Marks RX7 - lets break a rotary.

My mate's dad went from being the workshop foreman with Central motors Renault (in Perth) to workshop foreman at Central motors Mazda when they changed over about 1973ish. They ran an RX4 rally car. I remember him saying to me (after I had got to know his sons and him through old Renaults) 'Have you ever had any experience of Mazda Rotaries?' and I confessed that I knew nothing about them. He looked at me and Said 'Well Steve you have missed out on something there'

We had a set of tyres delivered once, Dunlop Cr67's (not cheap)! they left them outside our gate. We never saw them.

What was stupid was they could've thrown them over said gate??

What was even worse, when they delivered the replacements they did exactly the same.. except no one stole them. Luckily as the car was racing the next day..

Hope they turn up without anymore grief.

New IAT sensor, this one is faster acting than the OE sensor which is basically a coolant sensor repurposed, I just need to reconfigure in ECU to get it working accurately, I have all of the sensor values to input.

I’ve ordered a full set of wheel bearings all round as getting quite a bit of noise when driving especially from drivers side rear so might as well get all corners done.

The car is off to the body shop tomorrow, I guess it’ll be there for 3-4 weeks. I’m having the bumper modified and custom fitted as well of course as new paint. I think the majority of the car will get painted as need the wings blending in and some paint chip fixing on rear drivers side wing. I’ve got some OE brand new door handles and front windscreen cowel.

I just want to tidy it up a tad, not enough that I don’t want to use it but just a bit. Once back I need to get it under sealed too.

Here’s a quick vid as it stands today with new rims on.

New wheel as current Sparco one is a tad too small, I can’t see the Rev counter fully from my driving position.

I’ve noticed a fair bit of drone from the rear which makes sense as MOT chap said there was a bit of play in both rear wheels so I’ve gone with a full set of wheel bearings, these are the rears, fronts arrive next week.

Bought some MT-90 for a gearbox oil swap as well as some diff oil to do that also.

Gone on nicely that! Not a fan of the central/front bonnet vent though I really like the back two. Bumper might look good with some cannards too?

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm carbon

A quick video showing under the car prior to treatment and undersealing. All in all not in too bad condition considering it’s age, the welding he mentions I had done on the inner sill for the MOT.

I’ll post up an after video once done, more for record if I ever move the car on.
