Been on this forum a little while now, so guess it’s time I shared what I’ve been up to with my Clio 16v
Started out with a 95 clio 16v with a 2.0 williams engine which I bought with a view of just tidying up and keeping standard except a few cosmetic mods.
It was shortly after this I moved house to a place with a garage so I brought the car home to work on. However I don’t think it liked it as after a few weeks of being sat in the garage it decided to wet itself and lose all its coolant. I decided to take the engine out and tidy it up as I wasn’t fond of the colour scheme and wanted an oem looking engine bay.
Now that the bay was done, I built up the suspension and subframe to be refited with new parts. Some genuine, some not. Just depended what I could find. I used some -35mm springs.
Had my hubs dipped and plated and fitted new bearings. I also refurbed the calipers with new seals etc and bought all the parts for 285mm brake kit. I had to order some discs off French ebay as that’s the only place I could find the r21 txi discs. No picture of those though
Started looking at the engine finally, it’s was a bit of a state, there was a big blob of chemical metal on the back side of it so I decide it was scrap. I bought another 2.0 bottom end but a f7r 710. From an early Megane coupe. It was at this point I decided to do another turbo conversion.
I’d sent a lot of stuff to the powder coaters which I had picked up
I sent the engine away to be honed and decked. I had them remove 0.5mm off the top because I’m fitting Megane 225 pistons and Meg 250 rods. The crown height it 0.5mm lower on those pistons, this is why I had them do it. Got it back, put it on the stand and gave it some engine black paint.
Some of the engine parts I could not clean at home so I took them to my local powder coaters and had them vapour blast them. That came back like new. I was really impressed and the price was very cheap. I gave them a coat of lacquer because I didn’t want them to corode too quickly
I bought some 172 cup turinis to fit and then decided to fit 172 front suspension with some 197 brembos with brackets for them, refurbed & painted them yellow and got some 300mm scenic discs. So bought again all parts for that even though I’d already got new 16v parts lol
Looks mint! What kind of oilcooler are you running on that one? I still need to get one for mine. I guess you are running a thermoplate aswell by the looks of it?
