Just what I was going to say. It's all notional if most of us are keeping these cars then they don't have any real value in the market place - just the original price you paid - and potentially what you might get it you did sell it.

Fact of the matter is, a HUGE % of these cars, ph1 & 2, have undergone work in one way or another to keep them mint or in the worst case road worthy. They are fiber glass body kited cars and if driven as they should be, can very easily sustain damage that other, more resiliant cars would simply shrug off. I look at body panels on v6's as consumables and no different to brake discs, pads, shocks or even light bulbs. I bet if two, 100% unmolested cars were torn down, both would show some differences.

I think a few people get a bit carried away with the valuation of their cars, I'd let mine go if a decent offer came in , it's mega low mileage and in flawless condition, I'd just go out and buy another car I fancied,
it's not for sale but £20000 keeps getting mentioned for really low mileage cars (even in silver), it would be hard to turn down.

Just going on Matt's comment though- it may sell for 16k but under what pretences.-... A car with no damage & described as never had an accident- not everyone views this forum before buying.
If the potential buyers looking at this car new of the history then it wouldn't sell for 16k. its to much,-
As for prices, they will rise,- however the phase 1's etc you are seeing on PH circa 10k + is laughable - why do you think they are still there slowly being reduced.
As it stands you could MAX get 9k out of PH1 in silver sub 25k, the rare colours - maybe 10k-
As for a PH2, again prices will be on the rise as the exclusivity of these cars increase- I would Stump for an area of pricing for the colours as it stands now- assuming FSH + Cambelt & sub 30k.
Acid / Liquid / Lunar -- 19k. maybe 20k on a good day. ( North of this if it was sub 10k) maybe mid 30s for James'.
BG - a tough colour to price 17500 top whack.
Silver + Blue - 16-17 top whack- these are for the MINT ones though- cherished forum cars with service history underpinning the value.
If people want to tell me they are currently worth then that's up to you, however I sit on a neutral fence looking at the rate of change of prices monthly etc.- they are going up but you have to distinguish the good ones from the mediocre ones. I never see dealers with any good ones- because they usually have the ones that have very high owners & poorly maintained where owners have stretched their budgets to far to buy & then maintain the car.

On 09/05/2013: Private £14,180; Trade Excellent £13,930; Retail £15,180
It obviously does not take into account the obvious differences due to more 'desirable' colours, or the fine details of a specific car's history, but it gives you an idea of what the trade thinks of the values. I track the values of the Vee as well as my other cars using Glass's and Parkers guide. They are by no means definitive but it gives you an idea of what the trade's opinion is. Incidentally the same car was valued at less than £15,080 when I purchased it around October.

That's my opinion of your opinion.
I didn't sell in the end, so the valuation was worthless (irrespective of how accurate you claim it is/was/might have been).
The value of a car is as much as the owner is willing to sell it for, no more, no less, nor any value you might pluck out of thin air.
A well known phrase is "the only fool bigger than the person who knows it all, is the person that argues with him", so I'll leave you to your valid opinions.
