I don't think you got James's sense of humour there![]()

Guess the best thing to do would be to forget about "valuing our Vees" as it is all a bit academic since most of us are unlikely to sell up anytime soon anyway :approve:

Personally I think it is quite an interesting thread in relation to the original post about the LY priced at £16K, given it's history. If he/she gets that then great - however, there is then the moral side of things which are few posts have alluded towards in terms of a new buyer not knowing (or if they did know would they still pay that?). Then a new potential buyers valuation of all the V6s and what he percieves to be their worth in relation to book and market values. Lots of different perspectives and factors coming in to play. Most marques must go through the same thing?

Guide price for these things is £13500 retail, i agree more on the open market for a rare colour but it means a few thousand more like two grand not ten grand plus.
The same guide would be used by an insurance company, first offer on a write off would be way below this figure, if you held out for 25k the insurance company would be laughing all the way to the court case.

Just going on Matt's comment though- it may sell for 16k but under what pretences.-... A car with no damage & described as never had an accident- not everyone views this forum before buying.
If the potential buyers looking at this car new of the history then it wouldn't sell for 16k. its to much,-
As for prices, they will rise,- however the phase 1's etc you are seeing on PH circa 10k + is laughable - why do you think they are still there slowly being reduced.
As it stands you could MAX get 9k out of PH1 in silver sub 25k, the rare colours - maybe 10k-
As for a PH2, again prices will be on the rise as the exclusivity of these cars increase- I would Stump for an area of pricing for the colours as it stands now- assuming FSH + Cambelt & sub 30k.
Acid / Liquid / Lunar -- 19k. maybe 20k on a good day. ( North of this if it was sub 10k) maybe mid 30s for James'.
BG - a tough colour to price 17500 top whack.
Silver + Blue - 16-17 top whack- these are for the MINT ones though- cherished forum cars with service history underpinning the value.
If people want to tell me they are currently worth then that's up to you, however I sit on a neutral fence looking at the rate of change of prices monthly etc.- they are going up but you have to distinguish the good ones from the mediocre ones. I never see dealers with any good ones- because they usually have the ones that have very high owners & poorly maintained where owners have stretched their budgets to far to buy & then maintain the car.
The true value of that LY- 14-14.500 on PH ~

as opposed to someone posting comments that add nothing to the discussion. [smilie=thanks.gif]
I sold Clio number 117 today, so perhaps just maybe I have a valid opinion- I cant help your bitterness.
