Took the 5 out before work today, enjoyed the lovely sunshine, windows open, fans on cool, found a lovely quiet village and thought it was rude not to get some photos with my camera.
Just covered 25,900 miles now
I must sort out the passenger side wing mirror and give the car a wash and wax this week
So with the 1 year anniversary of my collecting the car (28th April) coming up, I decided to give it another wash and wax...
Seeing as I have a week of work and the MOT due on the 9th of May. I called Renault to see when they could fit me in (4 weeks time), screw that, called my main local garage that only does MOTs who I have used in the past and they could fit me in at 30 today...
Whilst I had no real concerns, you never know what they may find.
To my relief the mot tester was a young lad, but very clued up, I watched the MOT and he invited me over (started to shit myself), he showed me underneath and said I can’t believe it has no rust, never been welded... he said normally the rust on the jacking points etc but mine was mint.
He asked if he could take a photo of the car as he loved it.
Real find, you can't beat untouched original cars, a mate of mine found a similar phase one car a while back, before they were fetching what they are now. I flail myself daily for not buying it off him.
You've got a quarter of a reasonable pension fund there, cos depending on which half wit loony ends up running the world we'll either be riding round on electric sponge tricycles or floating down canals in one man wicker baskets......sorry gender neutral buoyancy capsules....
Insurance renewed with footman James, agreed value up’d to £25k, 2 drivers, covered to drive any other classic car, 3k miles, buy the car back for £10 if ever written off, all for £256 all in. Happy days
My local detailing supply shop had a little meet last night, and I was asked to pop along, was mainly a VW (stardubs) meet, some different cars there, various conditions... the 5 got plenty of people talking to me... was nice to pop out for a few hours in it.
Also met some people who had 5s back the day, including the owner of this old 5?? Anybody know where it is now (it’s now road legal after many year off being off road)
Today I am going to a car show (motors at the moat) at Leeds castle, so this week I took my passenger mirror of to have painted, and cleaned the car ready for today’s show.
Normal routine, snow foamed (bushed all the slots around the car to removed any dirty etc), washed with meg gold shampoo, dried, quick detailer spray, tyre gel applied, polished the exhaust tip(am thinking about getting a custom stainless steel exhaust to replicate the standard exhaust) and refitted the mirror later yesterday evening.
