A few notes about the couple of little mods I have done so far:
The ktec induction kit gives a real nice noise of the turbo spooling up which is great, comes with a heatshield too which is good. Point to note about it though is that it doesn't come with a replacment induction hose as you can see here (excuse the dirty engine bay)
The intercooler that is now fitted to the front of the car is made by Airtec, you'll probably recognise their name if you or your friends are into your Fords as they tend to be for the most part a Ford tuning specialist. I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to let them use my car to develop the kit on, so as it stands currently my car is the only one in the world with this intercooler seup on it.
It features a 60mm core with flowed cast end tanks and doesn't require any cutting to the bumper to fit. Comes with a the option of black or silver for the intercooler itself and muliple different colours of hoses that can be picked from along with a 3 year, unlimited mileage warrently.
As for any performance gains with the intercooler I can really comment much as my car is currently on the standard map and has never been on the rolling road. I am hoping that it will help when the time comes to getting it mapped though, failing that it does look good anyway and does tend to draw attention.
As for the modified standard recirculation valve... basically I wanted at atmospheric dump valve but so far the only kit I can find is by Forge at around £180 which I cant justify at the moment although I will get one eventually. What I have done for the mean time though is to disconnect the outlet side of the recirculation valve that goes into the inlet hose and blanked it off to stop any debris getting into the inlet and let the valve vent to atmosphere rather than back into the inlet, essentially a do it yourself for free dump valve. It sounds ok but I do want the proper one on there. I do sometimes disconnect the plug (its an electronically actuated recirculation valve) and let it remain closed to give that turbo chatter sound, I'm in two minds which sounds better if I'm honest and I am aware that there have been debates around for years as to whether blanking it off shortens the life of the turbo or not.
Future plans
I have ideas and plans but getting the money together to put them into place will take some time
I am planning on getting a full exhaust system for the car both decat pipes, not sure on what one to go for as yet but scorpion is looking like a likely contender so far or possibly a custom build from vortex in Essex.
After that I'll need to get it mapped, unsure really of where to go for this, I'd like to take it to RS Tuning due to their solid reputation but they are based in Leeds and myself in North Kent so it would be fair old trek there and back, so if anyone has any other suggestions that could deliver the same level of customer care/satisfaction for mapping Renaultsports a bit closer to home then I'm all ears.
I'd also like to lower the car a bit on springs, not loads but enough to close the arch gap and give it a bit more of an aggressive stance about it, the likely contender for these are H&R springs as I had a set on my old Twingo and I loved them so why not stay with a brand I like.
That's basically it I think for the time being I think. I hope I didn't bore you too much and if anyone has any questions or comments feel free to say I'm always open for a good discussion on cars.
