LAKES Meet Saturday 6th August

Apart from missing my family, how good does it get. In a lovely hotel room and get woken up by a Vee thumping past!

Just got home now! Absolutely knackered from driving lol, I worked out well over 300 miles today! Had a brilliant time though seeing all the old faces and meeting new ones too, I'm
Sure there will be loads of great vids and pics up to tomorrow!

Can't wait for the next meet now lol [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

well what can i say. What a fantastic weekend. Thanks everyone.
Cheers to nas, john and shaun for the run back. Sorry nas, you were too fast for us! Lol [smilie=thanks.gif]

Just got home myself and agree with colin; It was an excellent weekend. As soon as the gallery is set up I will post my pictures.

A few of the many personal highlights for me were:

  • Unexpectingly hooking up with Simon at Keele services
  • A cool Bulmers or two whilst cleaning the car on a sunny Friday evening
  • My wife, Sarah falling in love with Russo's rear spoiler and kept bending my ear that she now wants one
  • Definitely seeing a stream of Vee's in front and in my rear mirror whilst driving through the Lakes
  • Having to reverse down a bramble track to let 3 tractors pass
  • A dog standing the the middle of the road
  • A wedding party paying more attention to the Vees than the bride
  • The many head turning moments along the way especially through Ambleside
  • Having a brief 3 lane Top Gear moment with Naz and Simon of the M6 only to be left standing as they were having a race
  • Good food, good beer and excellent company
  • And finally.... being pulled on the journey home for doing 106mph!

Oh dear Danny, sorry to hear that mate. TBH you could have got more than 106, was your motor playing up!

Oh that reminds me, Nas; did you arrive home unscathed?

The Bill was sitting in Cannock services on the M6 toll and he said they noticed me blatting it a bit as I overtook a bumbling limo by the fuel station and thought he'd give me a follow. On he's car speedo I was slowing down from over 110 but the computer thingy had me at 106.... He was really nice about it and said that he would give me a ticket with a fixed notice of 3 points and £60 fine. He said that Staffordshire police officers perfer to give a fix penalty and keep poeple out of court, but it all depends on what happens when I send off my license. It will be up to them to decide on whether to issue a court summons or not. Fingers crossed! I knew that chuffin noisey exhaust would get me some unwanted attention one day....!

Brilliant weekend, nice to meet everyone be it old and new. But big thanks to Matt for organising it all and for giving Carmen and i a bed for the night - top man :approve:

Also big thanks for Phill for the detailed route planning :approve:

Oh and I promise to bring the vee to the next one ;)

Other than busting my gearbox was an awesome morning/day/night.

Great scenery and driving roads. Fantastic company and loads of good moments: confused dog in road, Nas crossing the river, meeting psycho the rapist and Danny, tractorgate, the epic motorway blat to Grieves Park, Matt waking a whole village up following Phill's detour, bloke falling off push bike, mossy's near miss with the keep left sign, Nas proving a ph2 can out pull a ph1 in 3rd, coach trying to kill some vees, poor Audi A1 driver getting mobbed by vees from all angles, tractorgate etc etc

Can't wait till next year. Big thanks to Matt for organising it and for Phill for co-ordinating it :approve: :approve:

Grinned all they way round the Lakes and fell asleep still grinning like a mad thing.

Thank you so much Matt and Phill.

Pics taken are in the gallery. LINK

Was brilliant to see all the vee's together and the owners. We have been back about an hour now, 760 miles on the clock from the trip. We detoured to Blackpool, then Southport & eventually home down all the back roads.

Tomorrow's dredded job is to clean Betty & inspect for damage :(
