Kangoo Compact (aka Racevan3)

Oh wow, ok, It's done that way round. I always thought the key was reprogramed.
Every days a school day. :D
It's a neat solution, the ECU fits where the Clio ECU goes, the Meg loom 2 plugs go into the ECU, and the Clio body loom plug is a direct fit into the ECU too, then you redo the Meg engine loom to fit the Clio UPC module. You can see the details of that in my Meglio thread.

I need to stop peeking at that thread or I'm going to end up with a mk3 clio and an raging wife.

Cheers all, should be good once done hopefully.

@Big Steve - Raider facelift does look good but that can come later as its a full front end change over

@DaveL485 i reckon if this was a petrol Kangoo this could have been done the same as a meglio by just swapping the immob eeprom data over, as petrol shares a similar sagem s3000 ecu. A plug and play ecu virgin immob file would probably work too, will see.

@Mark_L the ED turbo looks good. I might need your help soon modifying my 250 fuel rail for some an fittings if your up for it 🙂

@j_carter i can imagine your having fun making engine mounts for the vag lump! This era of renault are super easy to swap bits over. Ive no idea why i keep building these vans, its not a cheap hobby 😆

This week ive been making my own gear cables up from a combination of Renaults, more on that later. Waiting for the postman for parts too, anything posted by Royal mail is not turning up in a hurry, but i can order items from Poland and they turn up next day from dhl. Piss take !

No problem doing it Jon. I have to do mine and another for another friend so no problem at all. 👍

If you ever fancy a custom rear cage or even a full cage and you don't have anyone else, let me know. I'd be up for that! 😁

@Mark_L epic cheers for the offer 👍ill get the rail over at some point. Just after a fire up first on current setup to make sure everything works.

Cage sounds great ill definitely be planning on one eventually and will be in touch. Theres no room in the back of this for van duties so might aswell add some safety:cool:. Out of interest what does the average 6 point cage weigh? I know its a hard one to answer with pipe length used etc.

The Cage i did for @Duncan Grier was about 40kgs in T45. (Package weight) It took 18m of tube with a few small offcuts. Cds will be a heavier.

Some more jobs done to the Kangoo Compact.

Ive lost a few hours this week trying to sync the r26 ecu to the kangoo uch, initially without success and ecm immobiliser was active, resulting in short cranking and not able to delete dtc's from the ecu as immobiliser active.

Information on programming the immobiliser system is pretty scarce, and apart from meglio conversions which is basically swapping the immobiliser data over from clio eeprom to the megane ecu, there is no info on ecu swaps on the Renault can system.

I dont have the reprogramming cd's for clip and feared it might go tits up trying to mate a different ecu. Can clip was not showing the s3000 properly on the multiplex, had to look into other options to suit my needs.

Found a few open source diagnostic software packages using an obdSX cable to connect.

Options available

Ddt2000, Ddt4all, Pyren & Ren0link.

I downloaded all of them and give them all a test run on diagnostics (on my blue clio as cheapest to fix:LOL: ).

All similar yet different options as all use the ddt2000 ecu database.

Went with Ren0link, as its a little easier to use and bought the latest copy with a licence. For the people who have not heard of Ren0link, its a great alternative to clip. Its a 3rd party software and powerful, press the wrong button and your in the s**t basically, there is hardly any info or instructions for anything apart from key programming. Press a button and theres no warning, or do you really want to do this, it just fires the command, and if not careful you have wiped or bricked one of the modules and its a trip to Renault resulting in £££.

I went with this as it has a tool to find the isk and pin in the uch to program keys, and other easy to use tools, i.e. virgin uch and ecu on obd, vin change to attempt to marry my 197 cluster and sagem s3000 up to the Kangoo uch.

Tried a few methods to pair up the immobiliser using Ren0link to virgin uch & ecu, tried to pair up no joy. Pretty frustrating at times i admit.

Anyway stuck with it and bench read/wrote the eeprom and modified the file a few times and finally cracked it. Used a good modified virgin immob file for ecu, which would usually auto sync but did not on this case. I used reassignment mode bcm which then paired up the ecu.

Engine cranks over and ecu unlocked / can delete dtc's from the ecu so assume once it has a fuel pump fitted should fire up🤞

Scanning to find ecus initially, takes ages. I had to do full scan to locate the sagem s3000, once you have found the relevant modules can scan for them straight away changing the drop down box.

Commands in progress, reassigning ecm. Note some commands rejected, as there is a sequence required and some commands can only be done on virgin uch/ecm.

Uch cleaner to virgin immobiliser. Need to get your isk and pin stored before this as it wipes the keys off, and without the isk/pin you will need a trip to renault.

Hit clear and your immob and key data is gone.

Imobiliser paired up. Note "ecm not protected" = true. If it says false your ecu is locked by immobiliser.

Scanned with clip, still cant see the cluster or s3000 ecu but uch says programmed and immobiliser inactive allowing cranking:cool:

Fire up before new year i reckon😁 just need to clear all the s**t out of the back of the van so i can get to the tank sender and pipe the fuel to the fuel rail.

Thanks for reading!

Thats interesting stuff. Its writing the offset as it goes.

Reason for it taking an age to detect is the baud rate ( transfer rate ) looks really slow - 10400bps. Typically the interfaces I use on my exige are 11500bps. I dont know if there is scope to change that on yours?

@andybond i did change it to 11500bps but the software comes up/changes to 10400bps, might be the chinese cable tbh. Theres the odd drop in comms so just let it scan slowly, had a charger hooked up to the batt whilst it was on with it 😆

Not going to lie that my programming skills were very rusty as not done any eeprom flashing for 15 years or so ( thank fook for internet tips ) but on the other hand ive found this highly enjoyable to do, as a change from getting mucky on the mechanical side.

The internet is a wonderful place at times.

It might default to 10400bps for slow and steady comms TBH. I guess you dont want any errors while flashing!
