JANSPEED BOX & DE-CAT LINK PIPES FOR MK2

mod is only removing the post cat. mots will not be a problem as the emissions and serv light are taken care of by the primary cat which is not being removed

Not relevant to the thread at all but just wondering if the above is true (not doubting it by the way) then why did Renault bother with the collector pipe cats??? :s
EASY: to cover all the bases, the build criteria is different to the mot criteria, in some countries no mods are allowed at all, and i think france is one of them, wheras jolly old blighty has different views on things. i.e. the car does not have to be fitted with cats, but it does have to pass an mot, to pass the mot it needs a cat, not two cats, the secondary cat is there to get rid of hydrocarbons that are produced when the car goes into open loop ( search on net) as this is not part of an mot test we can get away with taking these off. p.s the car goes open loop ataround 65 - 70 mph, no, i dont know why, probably got something to do with cash. the answer needs a doctorate to really address this.

Spike..

Perhaps a summary and refresher of what you propose..?

James can you post an exploded parts view of the exhaust system please, so we can all get a clearer picture of whats to be kept/replaced.

That ok with you Spike?

THANX JAMES:
the parts that will be replaced with the janspeed exhaust (group buy) are as follows,
no1, the main silencer
no2, the post cat
no3, link pipe(from cat)

the main issues with the mk2 as i see it are the flanges are different to the mk1 so dont fit, also imo the extra power of the mk2 necessitates slightly bigger tubing, and also there are very few manufacturers making such an animal for this car, most still leave the restrictive cat in place.
having looked at the exhaust, and reading between the lines of threads on de cating this pipe, i feel this is probably the most restrictive part of the system, as you see from the pic the exhaust gas goes in from the manifolds then has to do a sharp 90 degree into each cat, this upgrade changes tis from a sharp turn to a lesser bend via two plain tubes that then make an entrance into he ends of the silencer as the std one does, once in the silencer it is a straight through type system with another 90 degree bend inside leading to the tailpipes.

hope this makes things more clear.

EXHAUST UPDATE:
i am at the mo getting together the deposits for the janspeed exhausts, up to now only one member has actually answered my call for this. i understand that folk are probably waiting till the end of the month / pay day, but some indication of intent to send the depo would be helpful to me. i dont want to leave anyone out of this deal that wants one.

Am still chasing the deposits on the mk2 janspeed back boxes, if you are still interested please get back to me as it all has to be paid on or around the 18th. as this is the date my car is going in and then i will be out of the country for 3 weeks.
this is still open to anyone that wants one, price is £440 plus post, or of course you can collect from janspeed.
also if you have paid a deposit please leave a post stating how paid as i have a few things going off with the bank at the moment, and i dont want any getting lost.
thanks again, spike.

This is the last call for these exhausts at this price, all the deposits are in (only 3 so very dissapointing) and will be taking the car next week.
after then the exhausts will still be available but at the revised price to cover the costs of the pattern work (750 quid), they WILL NOT be available through janspeed , they will only be available through myself or SPR RACING NOTTM, this is an agreement we have reached with janpeed.
if you want one at the price of £440 get in touch quick.

What deposit do you need, paypal OK

Steve

Paypal is ok if you both pay the charges, i have got to do this as i am cutting things to the bone. payments to [email protected] or of course do a transfer direct into my bank (and i will fly off to the sun) no, only kidding, it tsb and if you pay direct to my acc there are no charges.
also a cheque or postal orders even cash by hand if you are close to nottm, for my bank details i will not post, ring me or txt on 07889 153352.
glad to have you both on board.

All going well here, and about to get the car fitted up with new exhaust next week.

Well, big thanx to everyone who has signed up for this, with this many hopefully janspeed will take us seriously.
today i drove the clio down to janspeed in salisbury and handed over the keys, so nothing more i can really do but stand back and watch. the chap who i have been dealing with is on hol for two weeks at the mo, and his next in line told me that this month is very busy so the car will not get looked at until early may, with all the bank hols in the next two weeks there is only four working days to the end of the month anyway!
I am out of the country for 2 1/2 weeks as of sun, having to take a load to greece in the van, i will be back around 12th may, i will try and keep the thread up to date but as you must appreciate sat on the docks in southern italy this may be a little difficult.
