yes, as it happens, spoke to janspeed about doing the run of five not six, chap said he would get back to me with some figures but hoped he could stick at the same price, at this i am buying two so dont want to hassle the bloke, will try him monday fresh from the weekend.captain":3j5c58so said:

an update on the janspeed exhaust buy. as you all should know by now i have been trying to get a group buy going for janspeed exhausts to fit a mk2 which they dont do. i was trying to get six buyers to get this off the ground, unfortunately i have only four plus myself so five total, now i was prepared to buy two myself to make the numbers up but have stumbled into a problem.
janspeed make the exhaust to fit the mk1, nothing wrong with that i hear you say but it don't fit a mk 2, the one janspeed make for the mk1 is made of inch and three quater tubing, if you do the calcs for the extra power of the mk2 this is slightly too small, so, i asked for it to be made in 2 inch stainless tube, all of the members that have put their name down have asked for normal tailpipes, also no problem, but...
janspeed are not prepared to modify the existing jig extensivley without getting paid, this also screws up their operation when wanting to make another mk1 for themselves, so they have asked if i will pay for the jig out of my own pocket to the cost of around £700, also they need my car for two weeks to actually make this jig.
tentatively i have agreed to the jig money and lending them my clio but it leaves me with no more money in the tin. so i can bareley afford one not two, also having not achieving the required six sales this will make them more expensive, also the changes to the tailpipes and the pipe diameter increases the overall cost as the product i set out to have made is different to the one we need now.
the increase in cost is another £40 making the total £440 for each silencer including std tailpipes and 2 inch link pipes.
what i need to know is how many do we want, has anyone had a change of heart in light of this increase? i am prepared to pay for the jig but i i do i am told that i will have sole rights to the manufacture of these exhausts so will have to try and get my money back out of it somehow, my view is to sell these at £540 after the group buy until i have my cash back.
please feel free to comment on this as i cannot see any other way forwards, and after all it still is the cheapest way that you can get a silencer decats and tailpipes for a mk2.
i need to be making a move on this early next week.
