These are the jacking points and as such are shaped to accept the jack, axle stands are better located once lifted under a strong point of the structure such as the subframe at the mounting points where loads are designed to be applied, do not however jack or support on suspension components as ravydavy will tell you, the radius arms bend remarkably easily

Thread bump but where abouts do I put axle stands at the rear of the car?

It's unclear from the pics above.

An old photo of mine Colin, but this is how I do mine:

For more height I fit and turn the inserts of the axle stand upside down, both with or without insert fit lovely in the channel of the box frame rail.

Sorry to bump this thread. But I am about to take of my wheels to have them refurbished.
I am wondering if any of you have tried to jack the car under the front and rear subframes? I am most comfortable with jacking the whole "end" of the car when placing it on jack stands. I don't like lifting one corner at a time, and balancing it on stands.
So if you could give me any tips to lifting on the subframes, I would appreciate it.

I have a series of wooden blocks to drive up on and then put the jack under :approve:

;)

I really cant be bothered having to do this again, partly because my drive is on a slight slope now and I'm too old now.

I don't suppose anyone has a spare set of wheels to sit my vee on for a week

Yeah, I used a spare set of 17's off my R21 Turbo with a 20mm spacer on the fronts. In fact I drove it for MOT and wheel alignment on them so they didnt scratch my Croms :)
