Insurance time :-(

So I'm a 35 year old married man owning a house in a nice area with full no claims, no points, car secured in garage, and no fault claims (tho' I did have someone minorly shunt me in traffic a couple of years back :() doing about 10k miles a year in the Vee. My wife is a second driver, tho' she's only ever sat in the drivers seat once and that was to move the car 5m out of the garage. Personally I reckon these facts make me a low risk, but doesn't stop the bastards reaming me each year .

Currently with Privilege, but won't be again give their renewal quote of 826 fcuking quid.

Don't like Elephant/Admiral since they penalize you for no fault claims ... bastards. Norwich Union quoted me happy until I noticed the freaking excess of £720.

Anybody got any stories of joy leading to good suggestions on insurance please?

I had trouble finding insurance also!
In my experience there were 3 types;

those that won't insure me,
those that quote me in excess of 2k
and those that will insure me. :)

Only one of the latter and that was elephant.
£1200 for a 23 yr old, 2 yrs no-claims wasn't that bad. If i get that then surely they can sort u out somewhat?

I'm paying £800 per year with adrian flux. Got 9 points (all speeding) & had 1 fault & 1 non fault accident in the last 5 years.
excess is £350 & limited milage of 5K.
Elephant (my original insurers) re quoted me similar, then i made the mistake of phoning them & they then put it up to £1500!!!!
Won't ever go to then again.

My renewal quote from elephant was quite high so I did a bit of looking around on the web for quotes - Admiral came out the cheapest. Then I noticed they used the same online setup as elephant and then I realised that they owned elephant - DOH! Anyway, I called elephant and asked them to match Admiral's price which reluctantly they did...

Put your wife on as the main driver and you as a named.....the quote will change significantly as women get cheaper insurance. Loose your pride and put the Mrs on first to save cash!

Been with Adrian Flux from day one of my v6 experience and they seem ok on price,

I'm 41 with 4 yrs NCD,
car garaged
limited milage 6k pa
quoted £550 by A, Flux

went to confused.com, best quote was £415, went back to Adrian Flux ( as they have a "we will beat any other quote" promise) and they knocked there's down to £405, nice :)

I'm with Privilege at the moment, only because it wasn't a new policy. I had a modified R32 on it before so thought it would be easier to just change over vehicle on the same policy.

I couldn't believe I had to pay more than the R32 though, especially as the quote on that was more than I paid on an Audi S4 V8 modded to 400bhp and a brand new Porsche 550 before that.

If I do end up keeping the V6 I shall definately shop around come to renewal time.

Is the R32 Group 20?

No, I think its a group 19 but a lot of MkIV's were stolen so the premiums were increased because of it.
