Cat D is meanigless over there and as long as repairs are all prim and proper

It just shows how stupid the 'CAT' system here is. :s

Like many, If I had the spare cash, I'd have that
(unfortunately I'm so skint at the moment that the Vee may have to go.... :( )

I'd be surprised if there isn't a lot of interest from Auz.

Like I said earlier last year, before stripping my vee, I was prepared to spend up to around £15k on a low milage one. I'd have one over pretty much any ph2. However, after seeing the price of Trophies on the continent, I think one of those will be my next venture....in illiad.

The only 2 cat's that make a differance to insurance company's are cat C and B , cat D will only mean you will not a fully value of a straight car

On the other hand I would happily swap my 2002 ( comon silver as he says ) with less miles for this if the repair is right , I think soon the cat D status on this will not make a masive differance in its value when it's the last of 2 or the last one , I bet &9k would buy it

Didn't realise that the CAT status and repair was that long ago. If so, agree that £7K (after taking the £995 off for the private plate) maybe a sensible price, or starting point for negotiation.

Has a check by VOSA in 2004 and will be stamped on log book saying cat c or car has had excessive damage

There will be nothing on the v5 stating its a cat C if the repair was don't that far back

Hi everyone, its actually my car and all the paper work I have on this is aimed towards it being cat d.... does anyone know how I get in touch with the correct companies to ask the question why some people are thinking this was a cat c...
Really be grateful for the help, cheers.
Aaron

it shows up as cat c on hpi dont know if there is anything you can do to chage it i expect its been autolined or simlar then checked by vosa to see its ok im intrested in car

Auto line used to remove cat damaged car off the register if they where repaird properly , but then there was a big uproar about it, so then things change so now they inspect the car own to the point of checking for filler and even paint depth , and then they just make them reclassified as been inspected ( engineers report that is insurance approved ) if it is cat C I would just have this done for selling perpose and insurance purposes as well , but years ago they used to remove them from the register totally ( but they where or are owned by HPi)
But after 10 years of a repair it shouldn't make that much differance with the car, lets face it any one of these with cars that damged door and 1/4 and the car will now be written off now

thanks for your help, means a lot... If I did get had by the last owner I don't want the next owner to feel the same. Its an amazing car and great to drive so I want the next owner to enjoy it as much as I have.
When I had all the work done after I brought it, it was up in the air with the engine out and the mechanics that where working on it said it was in great condition and couldn't believe it was ever a cat d, so to hear it could be a cat c is really surprising.
I wouldn't even be thinking of selling if it wasn't down to living arrangements that have changed, I've got a custom cover for her but its just not the same as being in a garage and that's what she needs over the winter months... I just cant provide the proper home for her anymore and its killing me. but hay ho its only a car, right!!! :-(

Like I said wouldn't bother me looks a great car on face value and well looked after might have to give my piggy bank a shake

Aaron regardless of the CAT status it's a very nice car 8)

Illiad suits the phase one, even looked around on the market for a illiad phase one 172 because of your car!
