idle sensor/ idle prob?

I unplugged the ECU and left it off power for an hour or so, no change.

I also ran the car whilst unplugging and plugging the road speed sensor (which is new) in and out and no change, also tried fiddling around with sensor in slot no change

I also tried the 1.8 ECU in the car i had from my other engine, I remember using this previously on the williams and there was no change, now if i use the ECU from the 1.8 engine, it almost stalls eventually making it to 700rpm in the end and riding around there somewhere.

but again illustrates something is computing wrong somewhere.

Also just unplugged Air temp sensor whilst running and no change whats so ever, should there be any change?

The ECU is realy thick.

Its one of the first? so its ice age in computing power.

Unplugging stuff daaa! The computers to thick to realise the signal is not there.

If it idles about right at start up and then goes to high idle after you run it over 3500 RPM, check the road speed sensor.

Renaut France know F all about the problem and a lot of 16s Clios have been scrapped because of it.

unplugging the air temp sensor will not affect the idle speed just the fueling, unplugging the cts will not affect the idle speed as it defaults to hot idle which is 950 rpm +-50

I already said its an earth issue and I maintain it. I bet the looms rotten.

Throttle position sensor was the problem.

So what exactly was it doing before you changed the TPS?
