Hi

how hard is it to change a flywheel on a 5 gt turbo phase 2?

Ive recon'd a engine b4 on these and know my way round but havent done this b4? is it an engine out well drop job and gear box out jobby?

any help would be great!

thanks

I would imagine that it would be the same as changing the clutch,so just a gearbox job.If you are keeping the car it may be a good idea to fit a new or recon starter motor as that is a sh!tter of a job to do when its all back together.

its actually easier to take the engine out of the gtt rather than move the gearbox. can be done without takin the box out, draining the oil out or even removing the driveshafts.
chaging the starter motor is easier with the engine out, although if you have a standard turbo- downpipe exhaust pipe then you can get to it, and get it out fairly easily. just remember to re- loctite the flywheel bolts....

I agree, that is the way I do it on my Super5 Rallycar.

Two other suggestions:

Drive the rollpin out of the O/S driveshaft to allow more tilt on the gearbox

Locktite the fanbelt crank pulley bolt when you replace it.

why do you need to change the flywheel anyway? have you chewed the starter ring gear up or have you bought a CTM 9 slotted super light one?
