Hi chaps,

DAZ is in the local garage having it's gearbox oil drained & replaced with Total BV 75/W80 Synthetic high performance oil & a tube of Molyslip added - how many litres does the UN1 take....is it 2 or 3ltrs...??
For some reason i only purchased 2 ltrs & the chap in the garage thinks it'll need 3ltrs.....

Cheers..!!

Dave told me 4 and its more like 3.2

Ask my garage floor lol

I know......but..
A: i'm lazy
B: it's why i get paid (to keep my hands clean)
C: you try finding 20 minutes with 3 girls in your life
D: i want my chap to check everything over as DAZ suffers from a knocking noise on take-off.....

Fair point I was the same with the M3 ;)

Having said that my 21 goes for a week as of Sat for Windscreen, brakes, paint and an MOT

The MOT is a hope ;)

MOT.....no problems.....hopefully you'll be coming along to so they'll be a pair of black 21's...:-)

Mr Cooke, I promise you wholly....I havent spent this much money in such a short space of time only to leave the car at home and drive the 172 ;)

I didnt say four you ****! Although if its over 3, you will still need 4 litres, because 3 isnt 3.2 is it?

Lol u got 5litres in and when I came to collect you took a litre back and said you won't need that many as yours is 2wd

Leading me to believe it's a 4l box lol

Now piss off chimp face gimp ;)

Got the car back with fresh oil & molyslip added....took her out for a blast last night & the box is better...not 100% but better that it was......
Coming down the box is ok but it's still notchy going through gears when giving it some stick (which I do 24/7)...never mind I'll live with it for now & worry about it it gets any worse....
Still tricky to gauge how fast she is...be good to have a play in wales with other 21's to see how she goes...:-)

Ropey git with the molyslip. Masking the problem jonno.
It's probably a worn blocking ring or syncro.

It's not the syncro....there's no crunching...& it slips into first without a problem when changing down...I was told it's had a recent box change so I'm sure it's nothing serious....& if it is it'll let go when it's ready...
I'm not masking the problem, if it ain't broke don't try n fix it....:-)

Trust me....when tackling "zig-zag" hill a swift 2nd to first is essential for the hairpins....nothing worse than a box crunching into 1st everytime you want to change down...

It doesn't crunch...miy box is just "notchy"....were you asking that question to the kit car bandit or me...??

PMSL Kit Car Bandit!

Either way, ive not tried that because the piece of ****e 7T that was in it before wasnt putting out enough power to play that hard.

You Jonno. All UN1's are notchy changing down to first at speed anyway, its normal. Its actually a trait of Renault gearboxes from that era, the JB and JC's are the same.

Dave.......it's notchy all the way up & down the box......NO crunching, just notchy.......full tilt 2nd to 3rd is very "stiff"..........when we meet up you can take her for a spin to see what i mean......
All the 21's i've had in the past have had a really sweet & smooth gear-change...this one is more "industrial"......& it's hard to power through the gears......:-(
It actually changes down from 2nd to 1st really well........which is nice.....:-)
