Gas Pedal Stuck!

Sultan

New Member
Hello Everyone,

Had a scary moment on Saturday night. Was driving back home on a main street when the accelerator pedal got stuck as I was about to overtake another car. The pedal was fully depressed and did not come back up so I quickly put the car into Neutral and switched the car off. I slowly veered onto the right lane with my hazard warning lights on before coming to a halt. Pulled the gas pedal back up with my hand and it popped back up. I tried pushing the gas pedal all the way down several times to see if I could recreate the issue but it didn't happen again. Has this ever happened to someone else on the group? thoughts anyone?

Thanks.

Odd one!...There is a clicky bit at the bottom, which I believe has something to do with the cruise control...

Perhaps a squirt with some oil...as it's not a cable throttle...

Yep ... "fly-by-wire" on Phase 2, so no physical cable involved. Have you got any mats in your car? I have had pedals get caught on the back of mats before!

I have had this before. Its fly by wire on a ph1 but with a very short throttle cable that leads into a motor/sensor under the bonnet area at the front. Thats then electronically moves the throttle body in the rear. Might be similar on the ph2 I'm not sure.
On mine, it was a simple case of the cable breaking up and not returning the pedal (very hairy moments followed!!). If this is the case with yours, expect renault to bend you over and rob you of your money. I cant remember how much they wanted for a short piece of cable but it was absolutly ridiculous. In the end I made my own by using a normal throttle cable and cutting it to length. Cost me about £3.00 in the end.
