5 GT Turbo Fluffy

Lol, I know it ain't pretty, but it's solid, and that's important. Thanks for the glycerin heads up, amazing what you can get off ebay. Although I am ever so slightly afraid that the FBI or the CIA are now taking my every move.

I'll get some more done this evening.

It can be used to make nitroglycerin actually, if you know your chemistry.... (I have A-Levels in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and Studied materials science at uni....what shall we blow up?) :D

The gauge should NOT be full, though, leave about 15% of the volume empty.

Added some more bird poo last night were D485 shed doubt, and finished the front clamps to hold the I/C in place. Painting tonight and looking forward to having the I/C finally in place and then I can get the cooling system back in. Good times.

Heheheh, I don't know which is going ouch more, my fingers in sympathy
for Andy, or for the terrible scorching of that lovely metal, as was... :)

Doesn't the front of the R5 depend a bit on how strong it is right out front,
or is it all twixt the suspension struts?

Regards,
Steve

The front x member undoubtedly is structural, but works in tandem with the sub frame on that front.

Only just started and caught up with this thread Andy, Nice one mate.
Lmao at the electrical parts, exactly how I would think being a installation electrician as well, the auto electrics are a little different arnt they:aggressive.gif:
Nothing difficult though once you get you head around them.

Cheers for the comments Chris - yes, auto electrics are a totally different ball game, I'm getting used to them though with help on here.

Did a bit more welding tonight to add some better welds. I managed to get some pretty good welds done after burning away some more paint etc in those area's. It's really quite essential to get the welding area's totally clean to achieve a good weld. Lesson learned. It's solid, and going to be painted and back together by the weekend.

Also all my silicone turned up from ASH today, all lovely and black, just need to work out how much 60mm pipework I need, and how I'm gonna swage (or equivalent) the ends of the pipes.

If i were to give welding tips, they would probably be clean metal, good earth, lots of gas (the more the better), don't weld where there is a breeze or draught, use the thinnest wire you can to get the penetration you want (this isn't an issue on shitty french tin foil, use .6 wire) and whatever you do DON'T flash your eyes. Arc-eye is the worst of the worst.

LMFAO - took me 2.5 days to get over arc Eye, literally got to mid day yesterday and then - all good. I had the mask on 99.9% of the time and had just 1 bit that I couldn't get to with the mask on, squinted, pulled the trigger and got the weld right. But OMFG, I was ok until a couple of hours later when my eyes started watering. Had a good look around etc and couldn't see anything. Was going to go to A&E if it didn't stop as I was convinced I'd got something really nasty in there but couldn't see it. Oh and the head ache!!!!! Damn.

I manned up to .8 as it was fairly heave steel I was going into, and I got some very good penetration as we went on.

Hopefully, my bomb making ingredients should turn up today. I wont be on with this until tomorrow now, as we all know, Wednesday night is mid week beer night for me and pops in law, so back on with tis on Thursday.

And slowly progress is being made.

I lowered the bottom bracket about 20mm to allow for the oil cooler to live up top and sprayed everything. I've added cushioned pads to all IC contact to body points and fitted edging to the surround I cut just under the headlight where the feed to the I/C will be going. Got a few pictures, more to follow.

That's all for now, I hope my relatively poor standards encourage others to have a go.

LOL - hide that bird poo up.

I've got some black Sikaflex which I'm gonna whack on in a few minutes to tidy it up a bit, and also to stop any water lodging ad festering over time. Then I can put the IC into it's natural home and pipe up. I should be done by tomorrow night fingers crossed.

Many thanks, that's what keeps me going.
My glycerin turned up. Quite thick, nor sure I should taste it or not. It has the word vegetable on the bottle, could be one of my 7 a day.

I'll report back.

He's dead - this is the ghost of TNT-Andy

The glycerin mixed with some brown sauce - the reaction was not good. However, things might start looking up for Fluffy now that numpty is out of the way. After scrapping the last of his carcass off the ceiling, I took up where he left off................................

There we go, I/C home and in position, rad back, alternator back in, all wiring back in correct locations and engine to bodywork grounds re-connected.

Off to a BBQ now where I'm not able to drink beer as I'm dead, I'll just have to go on spirits LOL.
