5 GT Turbo Fluffy

I'll measure just to be sure, it doesn't look complicated to do that.

Got the Blower back from Bernies - looks like a quality job, looks like a new turbo.

@DaveL485 - Didn't you say you had some rocker shaft washers or nuts some time ago?

They are a funny thread are they not?

If not, any idea where to get them from, or is it pant's down time @ Renault?

Trying to strip Fluff's head to get the up-rated springs and one of the nut's has stripped itself when locking 2 nuts together to remove the 3x studs. Once I get that stripped, I can get the valves in the new head and start measuring for compression.

they are m7 x1 I think

TNT back at it last night.
as you may know, I pushed Fluffy a little too hard 4 years ago and blew up his lovely 230bhp engine and Turbo.
well, Ross has rediscovered his work life balance and we're both making an effort to get together once a week to do car stuff again. he'd sorted his mini problems and I'd been after rebuilding Fluffy' s original engine with some tweaks including possibly higher comp Engine, bigger back end on the rebuilt gt2860 and Some nicer injectors.

Right - how do I insert images into this post directly from a cloud based area?

Hmmmm - not working. I'm copying the url from individual pictures within my BT Cloud storage but I keep getting 'something went wrong' I assume it's a permissions thing???

Anyway - still, without images for now. Me N Ross got the block totally stripped down and we have had a look at what needs doing.

first thing up is the crank - I think this may need a re-grind as there are a number of scores on half of the journals, I've been quoted £120 for this plus extra for new bearings, does this sound about right?

The cam has escaped any sort of damage so we are lucky there. and this can be re-used.

Once the bottom end is back together, we'll get the head back on and measure for valve to piston clearance and if that's ok, look at checking the CC's of the head as this one has been over skimmed to about 72.5mm once we have that we can look at the CR and see if it's acceptable for an experimental hi=comp build.

We found the issue which looks like a valve head dropped off destroying a piston / liner, turbo, timing chain and tensioner and damaging the crank. The oil pump has very mild scoring so think that will be ok to go back in.

I’ve taken the liberty of transferring a couple of the pictures from this night for you @TNT Andy until you figure it out 👍
