F4rt vivaro

Been browsing this forum for a while and thought it sign up and documents what I’m currently playing with

I’m on putting an f4rt into a vivaro
There’s been a few done but absolutely no info kicking about so I’m winging it

Up to now I’ve fitted the engine temp in place using the vivaro top engine mount and made a gearbox mount

Im using the megane EPAS and the megane loom

Watching. Something I considered but fuel consumption and gear ratios might not be suitable for a daily work bus, plus buying the donor and the work involved.
Scoff seems to think he can get my laguna 130dci conversion up to about 170bhp, we'll see.
That's not got a dual mass flywheel has it?
You're right though, apart from general faults/repairs info is lacking on the net. Good luck!

Mine isn’t for work really. Just like to have a van so may as well have one a bit different

I’ve just bought a Laguna 2.0 turbo petrol gearbox. This should bolt to the f4rt and then I’ll be able to use standard 1.9 van driveshafts. Unsure on what clutch I’ll need but I’ll eye it up when it’s out.

Similar ratios to the megane box

Also did a bit on the abs this morning.

Stripped the loom back from the car engine bay back into the car as the abs pump on the van is located under the passenger seat. Could really do with finding wiring schematic for both vehicles as they have different abs pumps

I get that, my first time playing with a diesel as it's against my religion haha.
Mines a laguna box too but dci. Shafts fit the same. Difference on cables and box brackets, I've used the van ones as I recall reading that the laguna one doesn't work with the van gear stick. I didnt really check as I was just working with what I had.
Abs, I have a problem as the laguna uses the abs rings for the speedo unlike the van. Which also means clocks, uch and all the matching bits need to go in. I'm just keeping all the electrics van, adding the bit of air con loom and mechanical laguna. I'm hoping it will run albeit oe power and scoff can do the rest via the ecu, it's a grey area though!
Be careful with the looms, it seems things don't mix and match well. I'd fit the full megane dash and engine loom and adjust to fit as I'm sure you're aware everything is in different places, even some connectors are wired differently.
I've even had to change the air con pump, a difference of pipe sizes an port locations even though the pump and rad sit in almost the same positions.
Nothing has been straight forward besides the initial engine drop in, I can only assume yours will be even more complicated and probably why no one has done a build thread before?

I’ve removed all wiring completely from the van but I’ve still got the loom for the plugs so I’ll use the original plugs and splice in.

I’ve used the megane fuel sender it fits the diesel tank

I’ve got all the engine wiring in the correct places and it shouldn’t run now. I’m just waiting for a fuel pipe to turn up

Once it’s in running I’ll start stripping the rest of the loom of what isn’t needed. The car loom is a lot bigger than the van with a lot of stuff I don’t need

Have you got a thread for yours

Making good progress. Keep the pictures coming, especially solutions for things that aren't direct fit.
Yes, exactly, get it running then remove things you don't need. I'm guessing the only things connected from the engine to the dash is the ignition for transponder, clocks - which are clio anyway. Are they not the same connectors? I'm sure scoff said they need to match though, they are interchange between same models but may run different cambus. Depends if the ecu's from each run the same?
Iirc I've only about 6 wires, plus some into the ecu for the air con, to add into the vivaro loom so could be done within the engine bay. Have you added anything else besides the engine?
I have a thread - build threads/other renaults. Not sure how to link it.

Laguna turbo gearbox has arrived so I can use 1.9 van shafts.

But we’ve got a problem. The megane gearbox and the Laguna box have both got the same size input shaft but the megane clutch and flywheel is deeper than the Laguna one and its fouling in the gearbox

I recon the megane flywheel needs 8mm machining off it but I think that’s to much

I can use a Laguna clutch and flywheel but unsure how they will take the power xonosfed to the megane clutch

Lag II GT 150 kW has practically the same engine than 225 Meg and same amount of torque (300 Nm), so it shouldn't be any big problem. I have over 340 Nm in mine (Lag II GT). I've had it over 10 years now and around 200 000 km / 125 000 miles and still going strong, no clutch or gearbox (PK6) replacements so far.

Thanks mate. I’ll see if I can find a gt clutch and flywheel

Well projects on hold. Finding it difficult to find a flywheel and I’m not prepared to buy a new dual mass for a Laguna turbo

Do you have any intention to do some further study to see whether that megane flywheel can be machined to fit?
If you need any dimensions of the Laguna flywheel/clutch I can take you some. I have one dismantled Lag gt engine + dmf + clutch in my garage.

Can the van versions not be used? Dual mass are designed for the engine and vehicles they go in, so fitting it to a heavier less aerodynamic van may cause problems anyway.
