Exhaust question

Redsalive

New Member
I'm looking to replace my QS OMG back box. It's proving quite difficult, I've called ktec who can provide a janspeed but will take about 6 weeks. They can do a normal QS (anyone got one? Do they sound ok?)

Demon tweeks don't do anything... Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

The normal QS is alot more liveable than the OMG. IMO they do sound nice, but not as nice as Janspeed. They look better marginally better than Janspeed, however after reading Bens thread I wouldnt pay full price for a new one.

Theres a particulary crazy looking exhaust ive just seen for sale in italy if your feeling brave: LINK

Alternatively, there are a couple of standard phase 2 back boxes for sale in France at the moment: LINK

Custom is propaply the best route imo.

There are off the shelf options available but none immediately.

The Janspeed needs other tips as they look terrible.
The Spike version is quite large imo and the tips are too small.
The Orbisoud sounds great and looks the business, but again time delay and costly.

Custom allows you to pick the design you want and sound profile (additional silences etc)

I personally love my old Ktec (Tiger) and will be getting a local mob to replicate the design as best possible...

If I had seen the one in italy the other week before I went there that might have come back as cabin baggage, looks loud but the expansion and contractions built in should tone it down, there is another mob in italy that do a complete system inc manifolds that looks quite tasty but is around 2000 euros

Think that system requires the 2 in to 1 trophy manifolds looking at it Simon like Mr Patchall has. Does look very good though. It's such a shame the trophy manifolds aren't an off the shelf option.

Any ideas why I can't read that Ben's thread Duncan?

Thanks for the info.

It's a real shame about the janspeed, love the sound but those tailpipes! What were they thinking?? :ihatpcs:

The normal QS sounds tempting but somewhere in my head won't let me spend all that money on an exhaust I sort of already have.

The orbisound route seems like a good idea but I can't find anywhere that sells them(?)

Other than that I'm liking the idea of a custom made jobby. So my question is this:

Does anyone have any experience and or advice on who to go to? Is there anything I should look out for. (Pitfalls etc)

Or, does anyone have any info on buying orbisound? Who sells them??

Ta

I had the Janspeed but hated the tailpipes. I went to a fabricator who could change the tips for £80 to oem look. Just a shame I had to sell up before I sorted it

Thanks for that Matt, I've sent them a mail. In the meantime I'm gonna pay Simpsons race exhausts a visit in slough tomorrow as myself and my Vee are daan saarf at the moment as my megane is having some work done.

I've read some excellent reports on Simpsons. I'll report back with any interesting findings.

Damn shame that Danny. Any thoughts of getting another Vee one day?

Maybe one day. There's a few other things I'd like to try out first unless I have a little windfall and I can have one on the side ;)

Zorstech at Shipley was where I was going to go, they do custom and I've heard others say they're pretty good (why I went there really)

Went to Simpsons and they wouldn't entertain me because I didn't have "race car".

I went to Hayward and Scott and they found me an old trophy exhaust that they made for mark fish. Win win!

Great find Andy :salut: , now get some photos up of the trophy exhaust and a video when fitted. Also, can they still make them?

It's getting fitted next Tuesday Phil, so pics will follow.

It's definately worth contacting him as he said he made quite a few of them I the past.

Is this with manifolds etc etc? It is worth baring in mind that the original trophy exhaust is very different to the generic 230/255 item and requires the rear boot floor to be cut out and raised to locate it properly. Really hope you get this fitted as if it sounds anything like Bill Patchalls then it will be awesome!!

Oh and get your ear plugs ready

Lol no it's just the back box, and it looks like it will fit. I'm assuming it's not a proper trophy back box as he made it himself.
