Eratic idle problem

G

Guest

Hi I have my first Clio 16v, she is a 93 l reg in black with 126k on the clock and full service history, well to be honest the most comprehensive service history I have ever seen. Anyway she has a problem, when cold the idle speed drops right down until it nearly stalls then it catches itself the revs go back up to about 1500 and then it starts all over. Only does it when cold as soon as it warms up its fine, anybody got any ideas?

Cheers

ISCV - Idle Control Valve.

Its located on the Inlet Manifold, right by the throttle body. Take it off, give it a clean in brake cleaner. Put it back on and it should be sorted! :)

Dan i think your wrong there. Mine use to do the same. Changed the lambda and all is fine. It's more than likely the lambda as once its warm its fine!

^ Agreed that it could be the lambda but it's common for the ISCV to also make the car 'chug' when cold and almost cut out etc.

Can also be the cause of really high idle!

BTW, car looks good in your avatar, needs a centre cap!

Get some pics up :D

Black FTW

I only picked it up saturday, though yeh it will be easy to get some centre caps, no probs. They are like really hard to get hold of! might have to visit Renault because I want them in good nick because the car is so nice. Anyway if the ISCV does not make any diffference I will try the lamb sensor, so thanks again.
