5 GT Turbo EFI - GT Turbo

Don't ban me but I have to admit I'm not really a fan of anything Renault other than GTTs and Turbo 2s (runs for the door)
Strange. The rex was on my list as well.

I have a friend who has a triple rotor one. Batshit crazy.
Quick car even as standard , can be made to have a gajilion and two BHP if you want.

Its as far from a GTT as you can get really though

I love them Andy, I think they've aged well. Like you say no end of power obtainable plus they have a niche/cult like following. Very different to a GTT like you say but I think a really cool project to get stuck into. Could probably import one for sub £10k and go from there.

looks really nice, hope it performs well. Could just brace the turbo off the top of the gearbox, i think the oem car has similar from factory

Yeah I think that's the plan. Just waiting to hear back from Matt about bracing.

Mapping booked for 28th Sept and yes it may look pretty but let hope it's makes a difference. Ideally more power at similar boost. Not really keen on putting more boost through it being as on standard internals. Logically though these just have to be better than current set up. Time will tell.

Maybe some webbing on the exhaust runners? And/or a sexy rose jointed, triangulated support?

This was my own first experiment with a rose jointed support, I used opposing threads (one LH one RH) so when you twizzle the middle bit it extends or reduces the joint length to fine tune the amount of support.

This is the sort of thing I mean though.

Those bracing options look good Dave, Matt has been in touch today and said he will have something sorted by early next week. Not too fussed what it looks like as long as it does it's job.

Be awesome to see how the new stuff will treat you, you sure you want to go F?

Yeah the F conversion probably won't happen now. Will keep the 5 as is, whatever it makes it makes at next session. Will finish the 5 off with digital dash, LSD and bodywork and then move on to the RX7 project.

Will still always keep the 5.

I think for your manifolds i'd have a brace underneath the turbo off the gearbox, and then a brace from the outer two rocker cover studs up to the corners of the inlet. Rose jointed for sexiness, of course!

More than met my match this afternoon chasing down an ABT tuned Audi RS6, I did ok up until the top of 4th but at the top end into 5th he put about 4 car lengths on me. Need to change my camera set up too as rear view mirror spoils it.

More power needed ;-) Bring on the manifolds.
