5 GT Turbo EFI - GT Turbo

If it makes you feel any better Mark the car I just wired up to the Adaptronic that took me five days to build the loom for, that started two weeks ago to my jubilation...now wont start. I havent changed anything. It just wont start.

That's very annoying indeed, bloody things are a nightmare. If I do need to rebuild though I'm glad it's happened in the winter, I've already lined Mark Galvin up to build for me.

Considering you have the EFI stuff in place you must be tempted to bosh an F4R in there....? There is no downside once its installed initially.

I'll be buying another car in a few months Dave with decent power so no point really going more mental on the 5, i'll be happy with the C1J but will just forge it this time round. Forged pistons, pec rods and new liners aren't much more than £1000 so not the end of the world, probably best part of £1500 once sort new cam and vernier. Plus Mark's labour isn't too drastic either.

I've looked into the F series engines as you know and it looks like £3-£5k to do it properly.

Will set about investigating a little later today.

Evening all, so pretty certain I'm gonna need a rebuild. Swapped injectors, swapped leads, swapped plugs, all independently and after ruling others out, not all at the same time but the issue with number 3 still exists. Also car sounds MUCH worse, missing much more and smokes like a trooper. See videos.

So although my 5 does some impressive 60-100 times I think it didn't like it too much.

Going to remove head tomorrow.

Thoughts ?

Gutted for you Mark.........you killed it :)
Always thought you did well on a standard bottom end...... get stripping :)

Yes we have a CTM cam in, delivers the goods but need to sort the issues.

Yeah always planned a rebuild at some point so glad it happened now and not spring/summer.

Let me know how you go solving the issues with head/rods etc.

Chris rates 270 Piper cam so not sure which route to take. Will start buying internals this week.

Will do.......
Lots of people like the Piper 270, I was thinking of changing to the RT200, another contender.

We are building a spare with my odds and ends :), probably going to stick my old 285 in there.

Remember phillips on Fb vnt efi setup is making very good power on a 285 cam too

It's a hard one to decide so went with scoff's recommendation

I'll check over the next few days, after refitting manifolds and turbo the other day I'm not sure I have the energy to rip it all apart today. Will get to it Tuesday/Wednesday.
