5 GT Turbo EFI - GT Turbo

If I were where I was 7 years ago knowing what I know now, I would have developed my own using the original intake manifold, and fabricating my own using various methods none of which would involve ali welding, there would be some steel, and bonding involved - I might get to this again at some point. There is a Manifold from a Skoda that has the same head port positions. The only trouble it may have it may be restrictive. I do have one and am willing to offer it up for some R&D in respect to flow testing etc. I'll dig it out and take some photies.

Been away guys...
Just read up on thread,
Manifold really depends on what you want I guess. The MT will be good for 250bhp as proved, if you want big numbers then the custom manifolds are probably the way to go, like anything will come at a cost.
Oliver Davis had Glens plenum when he converted to EFI, dint make anymore power than me on my carb at the time. All about the complete package ....

I'm not chasing power to be honest, I just want a safe reliably tuned 5 with no bogging, cold start, hot start and idling issues. My single biggest frustration has been tuning with the carb, it's always a compromise and coming from much more modern cars it frankly spoils the car for me.

The rest of the car is coming along nicely though, id be happy with 220/230 so the MT manifold will be good for me.

forget the skoda one. after a lot of drilling and filing of holes to line up on my spare head all looked well. upon fitting to the car a big problem raised its head the manifold sits low down at the back of the exhaust manifold. so a new downpipe would have to be made up to get round it. so any savings made on the manifold are then lost on the new exhaust setup.

custom down pipe would be loads cheaper than a custom manifold? have you got any more pics showing the clearance from above?

only have these of it on the car. I was doing a build file for it until I hit the problems then gave up on it and bought one from Michael t. I did not have the time to start trying to have a pipe made up and make sure it fitted ok as wiring and mechanics are fine but have not got the hang of using a welder.

A small update.

MT is sorting the manifold for me, should have it in a week or so.

I'm sat in Naples airport waiting for my flight to Sicily to complete the final leg of our honeymoon but when I get back I should have Adaptronics ECU and all the bits from EFI parts waiting for me along with air bypass solenoid, boost solenoid and injectors. The last piece of the puzzle will be buying an FPR and will be ready to go.

Watch this space.......
