5 GT Turbo EFI - GT Turbo

These are the journey to and from Scoff old.....I parked the car up and embarked on more changes as the 21.

I'll sort closer to the time chaps. These are already winging their way to me from Portugal.

Next up FPR and various sensors.

Followed by manifold etc. Promotion at work and surplus wedding funds mean I can get this done much quicker. Will aim for a July install now.

@DaveL485 @Clarkey - After a bit of advice chaps.

First of all I need to purchase the air & coolant sensors - which ones on EFI site do I buy ? There is the option of 1/8NPT or M12x1.5mm - listed as "Universal coolant or oil temp sensor" - Any ideas ?

Secondly I also need a boost "solenoid" for control to connect into the ECU, any particular brand/type to buy ? What have you guys used?
Thanks

Mark

Id go for the metric ones, always, as everything on the car is Metric, but you will need to fit them in to somewhere yourself anyway so get matching bosses whatever you do. You need water temp, charge air temp and a MAP sensor. And a TPS but that should come with the throttle body. Easier that way.

You could always raid sensors from a scrappy, from a crashed newer Renault :) The advantage of Adaptronic is mappable sensors.

Got an update on the manifold guys. Good and not so good news. Had some feedback from fabricator and its more than do-able but will come at a cost. Its looking like being circa £750 with a fuel rail and injector bosses welded into the runners. Its based on a design, loosely, attributed to the scetch.

Thats where I was coming in at, and you wont get that sort of money out of 5GTT owners. Not in a group-buy sense anyway. I even went to the USA to try and get the price down and I couldnt get below £500/unit for ten orders, which was my 'tipping point' where I thought I could get orders.

I'm personally not against spending the money but when I can get one of the MT manifolds for £400ish with pretty much everything I need then I'm not sure I could justify another £350. Not unless it drastically improves performance or functionality which I'm not sure it will.

I've never looked at the MT one in person, isn't it based on the OE inlet? As far as an EFI inlet goes that would suck balls.
BUT, at the price point, while im spending out on the whole kit I would probably use one myself, at least to get up and running and then look to improve as a later development.

Yeah I think it is Dave but as you said in terms of a stepping stone away from the old school carb and into the modern world of EFI it's a step worth taking particular when Clarkey has used one and achieved such good results. Like you say I guess there is always the opportunity to change a few things in the future.

Totally understand gents.

I kind of had a feeling it would be a no go due to the development costs and the low demand. The 2 Dave posted would be your best options. Sorry i cant do something better priced guys.

My apologees

@RTS Motorsport Like Dave says most 5 owners wouldn't fork out that much to achieve EFI although many are clearly interested in going that route. I purely based it on how long I'm going to own the car and the benefits EFI will provide above and beyond carb, to me £1500 (approx) represents good value.

Everytime I drive my car in its current set up it upsets me due to it's compromised fuelling state. ;-)

You could always do what I did and find the bore pitch of the engine, then find a similar-pitch-size efi lump and try and blag the manifold on :)
