5 GT Turbo EFI - GT Turbo

Mark Davis

Brapmaster extraordinaire
Afternoon all,
So I am going to start buying the kit required for an EFI conversion starting with the adaptronic kit sold by EFI Parts.
C1J (R5 GTT & R11 Turbo) EFI kit - EFI-Parts.co.uk: Connectors, Sensors, Trigger wheels, Wideband, Adaptronic, Zeitronix, AEM

I just need a little advice about what else I need to purchase, according to the EFI site I need to consider the following but I would like to know is which elements I definitely need to buy and any advice (pro's & con's)
1) Inlet manifold - Will contact Michael McTierney and buy one of his.
2) EFI Fuel pump - already have one
3) EFI FPR - Any particular FPR to buy ?
4) Will I need to purchase all of the additional sensors such as - coolant temp, oil temp, air temp ?
5) I would like to keep flywheel and standard TDC as described on EFI site - Where is the best place to buy F7P/F7R ignition module?

Be grateful for any other comments or advice, I am ultimately wishing to get a kit list together so I know where I am at cost wise.

Cheers

Mark

@RTS Motorsport if you can make an EFI manifold for the C1J you'll get some interest.

Good choice and we can support you with the ECU too. I love mine, great ECU.

3) EFI FPR - Any particular FPR to buy ?Mark
Just use a normal rising rate reg. I much prefer fixed factory ones to adjustables. A 21 Turbo one would work well.

4) Will I need to purchase all of the additional sensors such as - coolant temp, oil temp, air temp ?
Adaptronic calibrates to native sensors, where they exist. You will need EFI related sensors added though, inlet air temp, MAP and so on.

5) I would like to keep flywheel and standard TDC as described on EFI site - Where is the best place to buy F7P/F7R ignition module?
eBay. Don't forget to skimlink. Or buy dizzyless coils from Scoff.

You wont look back.........Speak to Chris at EFI.
I had my reservations changing to EFI, mainly because I wanted the car to be in its original form and thought it would affect where I raced, regs etc.
We certainly wouldn't be where we are now, over 250bhp on the carb.
Car will also sit and idle happily...

They did 400miles and I have them for sale. Let me know if anyone wants em

You ask....i serve. An EFi conversion manifold would be pretty straight forward. I would need a little more info on the other parts needed for the conversion...throttle body utilised, which map sensor, injectors etc

Hi there, if you check out the link above I'll be going with the adaptronic ecu from EFI using the suggested Bosch injectors.

Hi Mark - My No 1 piece of advice would be to custom make your inlet manifold, I've had a number of different set-ups on mine and found that other cars can run better power and make more power further up and through the rev range and they have all got custom made inlets. BTW - I run one of MT's 1st ever inlet manifolds, it's good for what I wanted back in the day, but if I ever did it again and I might still do this, make my own.
