Detailing my vee

I always only use showroom shine (waterless cleaner) it's brill I have used it for years :-) so I used that as I trust it - it has removed majority but there is still some on where I have cleaned :-( i can try just soap and water I spose but I thought I would rely on you guys first :-) :-)

Another update - finished work early so 2 1/2 hours ago started on the scuttle panels-window rubbers and areas that were not cleaned (inside edges of lights and where panels meet ) I soaked with car shampoo and hot water then got into grills and nooks with toothbrush - a lot of spots have come off which I was pleased with but there are still white patches on rubbers (looks like buff pad marks?) And on the 'hard ' plastics ie wing mirror black bits I have scrubbed and rubed for ages and they still there ! Ahhhhhh :( I would REALLY appreciate some advice How to remove the white stains in the rubber and the hard plastic :) Thanks in advance !

Cheers James - link to the IPA - it says for painted surfaces ? I need to remove from the black plastic and rubbers so I wouldn't like to use it ? But I'm off over shop tomorrow for some peanut butter - I will look though lol ! I'm sure I remember that being mentioned ages ago .

This kind of thing really pisses me off. Is there no fixed abode for this business? I'd be right on the blower and knocking on the door for either a refund or rectification of poor workmanship. It suprises me that a mobile detailor charging good money has no way of covering the car for less than perfect conditions too.

I understand what you r saying brett but I like a quite life and I love my vee - im not saying he would but if let's say upset him my car is on my drive wink wink nudge nudge! I have emailed him tonight as I want it rectified - last chance for reply ! Else I think I will need new rubbers round windscreen and poss more :-( but I have peanut butter 2moro ! :-) I will try it !! I am hoping Dawn will have the answer I am after :-)

I used plain peanut oil on my mrs old mini to get all the black plastic trim bits clean after they faded. It worked a charm but you must clean it all off!

Have you tried a plain pencil eraser (not the abrasive type)? Works a treat for getting normal polish off the plastics, particularly the textured bits. Not sure how different the stuff you're tackling is though, sounds a bit more stubborn. Can't hurt to try , and won't do any damage if it doesn't work.
Will need to treat afterwards like everyone else has said.

Ok he got back to me this morning and I'm booked in for the 27th !! ;) once it is done I will post some pickies up :) Thank you too all concerned ! I just hope it comes out :(

Pleased he's been in touch ;)

Cheers James - it is a relief - I've spent 5 hours ish in total removing what I could. To still see white stains really upset me, I'm sure the windscreen rubber is now damaged but as far as I know it's standard clio mk2 surround so could order new one fairly cheep but then it will look nice and black and show up the other rubbers ! Then knowing me ill get Scott to change them all lol oh well ill see what it looks like next Friday. Cheers for now :)

Hi guys - just an update - he's been today - car looks superb but I have a feeling a 'blackening" product used on the black bits ? I have no idea but will find out in a few weeks ! Top window rubber still has rotary marks in it so will get my ass in gear an try the great fully recieved suggestions! ! I don't have time now but tomorrow I will put up some pictures - really pleased with the roof as a really bad 6 Inch mark in lacquer (Probably bad removal of bird poop) has gone away !! Fair play to him as it was bad ;) anyway post up pics tomorrow - thanks again to those who gave suggestions :salut:

The close up of the roof is where a 6 inch square patch was where the presumed bird poop removal was, that had really badly damaged the laquer :(

Cheers James - but i will need to replace the rubber strip at the top of the windscreen :( he did nothing to that - oh but i will try the suggestions first -- i still feel he should have sorted that but there thats my luck - not as though £475 is a lot to pay for some one to damage something for you ! lol ! Also he left polish marks in the rebate where the windscreen wipers are :( i may be being to fussy, i have never had a car valeted so i dont know about this kind of stuff. If I ever do this again I will certainly ask for a recommendation before ! I would love Dawn to get her hands on my car - but i think she is to far away :( Anyway its sort of done now I will now spend a few weekends cleaning the bits you dont see, i use the car every day ish (only 2000 a year ) but now the paint is corrected i can handle keeping it clean [smilie=yay.gif] Anyway thats the finished product i hope you all like it ;)
