Dephaser

Are we going to have to bite the bullet on these? Looks like Reno are a no go.

Will it effect future values if not carried out?

Got the opportunity to change them next week but paying 800 quid to get rid of a little rattle is vexing me. :help:

I've been meaning to post for a while since having my Dephasers replaced - I've lived with the cold start up knocking noize for quite a while on my car, however recently I noticed that my car had developed a slight hesitation at low revs (almost like a slight misfire).

I went to Dryclough garage in halifax and Richard diagnosed that it was the dephasers causing the hesitancy issue.

As the car was due a cambelt change I bit the bullet and had the dephasers replaced at the same time, sure enough the issue is now sorted and my Vee is running perfectly again, the occasional knocking I could live with, but with my pride and joy not driving as it should then I knew it was time to address the issue !!!!

Excellent work from Richard and his team.

Phill, thanks for posting this up.

Ever since I heard about this issue I have been trying to understand the following:
1. What causes it (e.g. mileage, usage related etc)?
2. What the consequences of having worn/defective Dephasers were.

When we discussed your experience at the Lakes meet, you confirmed item 2 above. Did you to get to the bottom of why it happens or whether it is related to mileage, usage or any other factor? Thanks.

Cool mate :approve: mine need doing to and my belt is due soon, there's been talk that Renault are making a batch again. So let's hope they do before I get my belt done :)

Dulan,

I didn't get to the bottom of why it happens, however since I've owned my car from when it was only 18 months old with less than 9K miles and it has been serviced correctly ever since, I can definately say it's not a poor servicing issue.

Thanks for your feedback Phill. What you say above is what I too have been hearing.

Couldn't miss these - 2 ordered. :approve:

Edit* I actually spoke to them on the phone and they explained that they have had to order another 10 - my order has yet to be confirmed so maybe they have already run out...? [smilie=icon_eek.gif]
