has anyone done anything like this on here?

just wondering with renault prices and stock probably diminishing over the years what other options people would have when damaging or not acquiring upon purchase

obviously the purist would want everything as it left the showroom but what if this wasnt an option in the future?

ive briefly searched and seen someone mention using a stock arch liner and altering, is there anymore info on this?

Danny,

I cannot recall any information being posted on this.
TBH these sorts of parts used to fairly easy to acquire as:
a) they aren't in huge demand
b) Vees were being written-off fairly regularly because insurance companies considered small damage repairs too costly to relative to the value of the car.

As residuals rinse and accidents remain less common - you'd need to be most patient and diligent about acquiring said parts.
Having an alternative fabricated (perhaps with some means to offer this service to other?) is clearly a better idea.
In this instance, you could also 'have a go' and post your progress in the projects thread.
(diagrams of the parts will be on here somewhere...)

You won't be the first to have bought a Vee which needed some remedial works - but it's quite a daunting prospect when the parts are either: no longer available or (worse still) available at an exorbitant price

Welcome to the club btw. :welcome:

I recall that thread - but there were no specifics about cutting a pattern...
...this is the sort of thing that should be in 'the knowledge'.
Undertrays are particularly pricey and not particularly complicated/technical.

I remade the front D panel in aluminium to add a good chunk more strength to the front bumper. I'll also need to make a rear one to vent cool air up to my turbos and gearbox cooler. They aren't too hard to trace out and ideally carbon/Kevlar would be the best material but for practical reasons I'll be sticking with aluminium.

ill certainly be looking to source parts needed over time. just wondered if the discussion would bring amything out.

if some stock arches could be found i wouldnt mind attempting a mod but with nothing to compare too its a little hard haha

So I had a pop out today to a scrap yard. Found myself a phase 1 grande!
They kindly let me offer it up to the car. It definitely wasn't wide enough which would be pretty obvious but it also didn't seem long enough to run round so youd be left with it short at the bottom.

This arch was in two pieces. One roughly in line with the bumper markings and the other the rest of the way round. I dont know if theres any different ones to try this seemed pretty bog standard

So the base model is a no go. Does anyone have a photo of the arch liner to give an idea on how to make one fit?

Maybe it was the wrong type I seen but it seemed like standard bumpers. I got pictures of each side of this one. Ill out them up when i can.
Some pics of actual v6 ones would be nice as ive nothing to compare it too!
