Custom alloy rocker covers for the 5 GT Turbo

Hi mate, just pm'd my details over to you, I was wondering if they come painted/coated and if so then what colour would it be or is there a choice? Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve, I usually supply covers in black, blue or red and I can get any paint mixed from a code for £20.
The head arrived here today so I can get started on making the pattern to cast the covers

I'm hoping to do 2 styles of cover, one will have the Renault diamond and the GT Turbo badge and the other cover cas have custom lettering of the customers choice. If anyone has a GT Turbo rear badge for sale, let me know.
I have the 10 deposits I needed now so this is definitely going ahead. I'll leave it open for 1 week from today if anyone wants to get a cover at the offer price. The covers will cost £90 to anyone putting down a deposit so I'll take a £40 deposit and the balance to be paid when I have them ready, anyone putting a deposit will get free postage on them.
The price after next Sunday 10th May will be £100+£15 post.

If you think the remaining balance will be needed after the end of this month, i'll have one. I'm doing two euro trips this month and I want to keep cash reserves high in case there's a problem!
I would probably want a blue one, with "9 Turbo" lettering in the Renault font if possible. I can send you the Renault Bold MN font or windows if you need it, I might even have the original badges somewhere actually.

One point to make, the 3 nuts that hold the cover down across the middle of the 'dome', the 21 works the same way but with a cast 'square' cornered alloy cover as yours are. If you overtighten it, the centre one will crack around the hole. I would suggest some extra reinforcing ribs underneath and a note with the covers stating a max tightening torque. GTT owners used to a steel cover may well razz the nuts down as they're used to, break the cover, then you will get complaints and a bad rep regardless of whether its your fault or not.

I was thinking about adding strenghtening ribs lengthwise inside the cover and do away with that bolt hole. These covers won't bend in the middle like a steel one so they would be alright with 2 bolts.

hi John
the original cover holds a bracket for the air intake hose (intercooler to carb hose), yours will have to ?
and the oil filler cap will be kept or do you make a custom one ?
how much would be the shipping costs to France ?
regards

I'm happy to retain the original cap.

I believe there were some oil cap covers made that fitted over the OE cap by someone...maybe BBPT?

I have some progress to report :)
pics aren't great, the top one is the first wood blank pattern, middle is the machined alloy pattern with the badges stuck on made from the wood one and bottom one is the finished alloy cover. It's straight from the mould so doesn't look great yet.
