clio valver earthing points??? help

:cry:hi really need some help, just put the 16v lump back in but think i havent earthed it right so shes not firing up
tried charging the battery and locking the doors etc

HELP

easy way to check for that is put a jump lead from the negative to the engine block, see if it starts then

am I sure connecting a wire from the negative to the engine will work as an earth wire?

yeah I'm pretty sure....

if that works then you need to check the earths obviously.

Also is the engine loom earthed? Should be a lead from the loom to the gearbox, the eyelet breaks off though.

Main engine earths the braided one commonly snaps and tbh they are ancient so add new extra ones in.

What exactly are the symptoms? If its cranking over fine its most likely not an earth fault. Unless its the main engien looms one has snapped.

she tries to start but obviously doesnt, gunna give the battery some more charge or get some1 to jump start with some leads and i noticed a wire that had a connecting block-is this the culprit dya think?
ill know more tommorow and get back to ya mate

right chris charged the battery put it in and no joy, even got my mate to put jump leads on it and it still wouldnt tick over but she was trying tho, dunno what else to do now im stuck

so is it winding over ? what you mean by it tries to start , it fires every so often?

it is winding over but thats it, havent touched it since sat so gunna have another go tommorow maybe take the loom out and reconnect to see if ive missed anything

not done a comp test yet was thinking about it tho, ill have a snoop around tomora and see what happens then if all else fails ill do the comp test- but if this is the prob how do i rectify it??

check fuel and spark , leads on the right way round? if all that is good , do a comp test, thats my opinion anyway ,

have you re-connected the crank sensor? sits on the top of the bell housing on the box, under the thermo housing

ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I found a plug that wasnt plugged in and reconnected the twat of a clutch cable and also put the bumper and bonnet back on so it looks like a car again, just need some brake discs and pads and oil filter n oil and im rolling again

so..........where do the earth points in the engine go???? ive got 1 to engine block, 1 to gearbox bell housing and 1 to the slam panel, what about the alternator wires??
sorry about all these Qs but this is the 1st time overhauling 1 of my cars
