Cheap yet effective performance upgrades

In that case I suggest you trolley on down here and let me fit the bits for you so it dont go pop

No offence but you need to be careful with it if you dont know the score.
Handbrake cables....nothing new there lol.
Remove and fill with WD40, and get one end in a vice, the other end in ya hand and wazz the sheath up and down till it free's up. Quadra's are even worse for it.

I won't be collecting the car until it's got 12 months MOT and a clean bill of health :)

Once I've got all my bit's together I'll pop down mate with a few cans of ale under my arm :D

I've got the Dump valve on the way, hopefully I'll have an Air filter, Bleed valve and Boost guage soon and I'll enlist your services matey :) Do you charge by the hour or set pricing?

There's a few Bleed valve's on ebay, will any of them be ok? I've been told that the under bonnet ones are better than the in-car jobbies, I take it that's correct?

Thanks again for the help matey

Hmmmm....gotta point out, the 21T rear springs are part of the shock and cant be removed, do hope they ordered you the whole thing :?

And aint charging you more than ?45 each for it

I Haven't had to do anything or pay anything mate, I've not collected the car yet and won't be until it's got 12 months Mot

I was hoping to have it this week as the lad I'm buying it off thought it would fly through it's MOT on Wednesday. Then it failed on a rear spring being cracked.

Huh???

So where do you get them from for that price......last time I bought a pair of rear shockers from Reno I left with a hole in my wallet to the tone of ?125 (and that was with my discount  )
Monroe do list them, but to be fair i'd steer clear as only the genuine article does the job properly....oh and the fact that were actually 3 different types fitted to the car which were all different lengths
Hope they fitted a pair otherwise you might end up lop-siding off down the road

Like Dave says (cheers mate) if you need any help/advise feel free to give us a call.

A list of customers can't be wrong!!!!

Cheers mate and welcome to the club.....

I've had an email off the lad this morning saying it's costing ?70, I've sent a reply asking what he's getting for that, parts wise.

Roger, I dare say I'll be calling on you and Dave for your services in future, Your both pretty local, I'm in Cannock Nr Stafford

I've just been reading on another site that the 21T has Torsion bar rear suspension with a spring added, Surely it would ok to replace the springs alone?

Has anyone got any technical drawings of the 2wd 21T?

Trust me..........the rear set up on the 21 Turbo comprises of a Torsion bar, and a coilover rear shock absorber :)

The spring is welded top and bottom to the shock absorber, and often snaps.

Oh and Roger, I bought mine from GSF for ?45 each, even came in a Reno box  as did my fronts which were ?47 each in a Reno box

lee beat me too it ....

but was gonna say dont they come as a complete shock so mate check that they dont palm you off wiv the same broken springs on the rear shock when they find out they got a bill

si21

If the attachment works, Is the 2wd system similar to the Quadra's system in the pic?

According to la21t it's nothing like this but I can't find any other pics

2wd is different.Torsion bar and coilovers as said b4.Heres a pic of the spring and as you can see its part of the shock.Hope this helps

Thanks for the pics matey It's a great help

La21t is this the part you can get for ?45 from GSF?, I can't see them listed on the web site

Yeah, thats what I purchased from them little over 12 months ago.

:)

They were ?79+vat each from Reno at the time if memory serves me....

Cannock matey about 5 minutes from J11 M6

I really hope the 21 comes this week.

I've got some bit's on the way and I'm toying with the idea of chucking an Apexi AVC-R boost controller in it, just for a bit of bling :) Supposed to be an excellent piece of kit so I might sell off some of my audio to make way for one :D

Do you arrange any local meet ups in the Midlands?

very very bling, http://www.apexperformance.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=788

but a good boost guage and and in car bleed valve would be a hell of a lot cheaper. Thats what i got fitted, and pretty much everyone else with a 21.

the Apexi AVC-R boost controller looks amazing but if you dont know how to fit it could cause a problem, just had a look at some post about it on a site and requires some wiring.

If i were you, and if your fitting it your self, i would go with the bleed valve and boost guage to start with and move onto something like this later on.

Good luck and anyway, dave or roger will sort ya out with fitting if you have trouble.

Yeah mate, for now the Bleed Valve and boost gauge are going in but the Apexi just looks so damn cool, Definatley a job for Dave or Roger tho.

Hopefully I'll get some pics of my new ride on here soon :)

LOL!!!

It involves wiring so I wouldn't waste a call to Dave LMAO!!!.......he'll run a mile!!!

I can claim to be a bit of an anorak when it comes to electrics....just gotta understand how the systems work and it all just follows from there!!

As Lee said, the rear shockers habe the springs attatched and cannot be obtained seperately, just wish I'd known about GSF selling them

Cheers

Any idea how much it would cost to install one of these boost controllers Roger??? Pm me if you like :)

Kiss my ass monkey boy, I can build wiring looms as well as you can, Check out the mean fan loom on Rabsons car 8) I just dont enjoy it as much as you lol.

Like I say the offer of help is there. I don't charge first time customers, sort of introductory welcome-to-the-gang-and-the-world-of-21turbo's.

I Do charge when they keep coming back for clutch's, cambelts, Head gaskets and all that rubbish though LOL
