Carburetor problems with Renault 5 tc 1985

Hi there! I recently bought a Renault 5 tc which is not running. (I know it's not a turbo but perhaps you guys can still help me). All parts of the engine seem to work, but there seems to be a problem (clogging or some sort) in the carburetor. I tried taking the cap of the carburetor after unscrewing the 6 main screws and all piping / the choke lever but the cap won't come off. Are there any screws left that I'm missing? Or is it just that all is so dirty it got really stuck together and it requires some more force? See the picture I made before unscrewing with the detached parts in red for reference.

Is there not another screw where I’ve arrowed in RED?

It should be coming off fairly easily, unless it’s full of varnish from the fuel??

The whole carb comes off with the two 13mm bolts either side of the carb I’ve arrowed in BLUE. Then you can get it on the bench and give it a proper look over.

@sparkie is one of our resident 32DIS carb experts, and has a lot of kit at his disposal to give it a real deep clean. Should some of the jets be blocked up.

Getting a carb rebuild kit for it though might be a bit of a struggle..??

Yes indeed, at the red arrow is another screw, I also disassembled that one. It is a total of 6 screws that I took out, but I can’t seem to get the carb-cap to move even a slight bit. It seems to be really stuck so the next step is indeed to take the whole carb out. I’ve not looked into a rebuild kit yet, but when necessary I will let you know. Thanks for the info!

Solex 32 DIS can become stuck too, might have to lever with a screwdriver.

Get a rebuild kit before stripping. The gaskets are likely to tear or fall apart of original when removed.

I managed to take the whole carb out, and after ticking it with a hammer the cap came loose, and with that the gasket completely tore as @Brigsy already mentioned. The jets seem to be pretty good but the whole carb was just dirty in general, inside and out. I put it a night in gasoline and cleaned it with a brush, some start fluid and some sanding paper. It looks pretty good now! I also found out that this model does not have the Weber 32 carb but is has the Zenith 32 IF2 carb. I've been searching for some rebuild kits (especially the gaskets) but there aren't a lot of them in the market, and most of them are quite expensive or really far for shipping.
So I found something on how to make gaskets yourself with gasket paper. I need a new a new gasket for the cap (first picture) and the other piece in red, not sure how that's called. (The pictures were made before and during cleaning) I already found out how to make the gaskets, but does anyone know which gasket-paper thickness I would need?

A standard 32 DIS gasket kit from a 5 gt Turbo has 2x that gasket and the spacer. But you can buy them individually from eBay as well:

Hmm.. the cap-gasket seem quite different to me. I’ll measure the old gaskets to find the thickness, perhaps they are a bit compressed but hopefully I get a nice result. I found the gaskets for the IF2 but they are 50€ and up to 2 months of delivery time, so I want to try to make them myself. I’ll measure the gaskets I took off, they might have shrunken a bit due to compressing but we’ll see whether it works I’ll keep the post updated when I find out, perhaps someone else has the same question in the future. Thanks for the help again though!
