Cant polish a turd???....yeah what ever!

200mph! lol Although its very much possible with the engine and gearbox it'll need uprated pistons and rods before the hike to 650 odd hp. I'm happy with what ever it gives me to be honest. I'm really not interested in figures. (I won't be finding out on public roads after last time!)

Probably next year Ali. Although saying that, once the engine, gearbox and exhaust is fitted in april, the only thing stopping it move will be driveshafts, ecu and charge cooling. All depends really. The car is due a new front end and respray too but that's a different story altogether.

.....Oh and as for you looch, I'd give you a right hook back but I guess you'd know that and give me an upper cut before hand! Lol

You still talking? Get building the beast

LSD found! After talking to a gearbox specialist in the States, it turns out the Porsche 968 uses the same 6 speed 'box as my audi lump. Apparently it was fitted with an LSD as an optional extra which fits my 01E without any modifications. Great I thought....until I tried finding one for sale!! Luckily a local chap has offered me an entire gearbox but is reluctant to split it for the rare diff. Hopefully, after abit of badgering this week, I'll have a perfectly suited lsd for a road car in my hands! Fingers crossed!

Well here they are, the first pics of the year! There should be a long line of them to come over the next few months. The car is due in to be worked on in a couple of weeks time so its hands on deck now the weather is getting better!

This is the box as I bought it a few months back. Following a good going over, it was time to clean it up good and proper. It was probably clean enough to stick straight in to most, well used engine bays but I have the option of having it on show should I want to cut the centre bar out of the bumper again. Not only that but I'm sure a few people may try and take a good butcher under the car to see how I've mounted the engine and 'box in the way I am. Anyway, after a bit of elbow grease, its now ready to face the music and 600hp should I wish to throw that much at it.

Next job, ENGINE!.......

Top job there fella, that looks sweet :approve:

Just offered this it up to the spare L7X with uprated cams I have here and it very nearly fits. Like VERY nearly! The audi's gearbox output shaft is around 14.5mm o/d and sits exactly the same depth into the bellhousing as the renaults PK6 gearbox. The Renaults crankshaft has about a 16.5-17mm i/d for a gearbox output shaft. This basicaly means that with a small, inexpensive bush and 20mm adaptor plate tig welded to the audi gearbox, both will work perfectly together. Begs the question, how many other strong transverse VAG gearboxes will fit stock vee's? Ummmm....

Will it fit!?

Well after a phone call to a local company, it seems I have found somewhere that will fabricate my lower engine mounts. Just need to polish up my drawings and pass them over. He said it'll be cheaper to do a batch of 6 of them so if anyone wants to fit an S/Rs4 lump you know where to come! Lol

So he's gonna charge you less for 6 sets rather than 1....., ask for 12 it'll be even cheaper ....;-))

Haha No! My bad. I meant it'll work out cheaper per set lol.

Oh to stop my fart-arseing about with the wheezy Renault lump and shoot myself in the financial foot by fitting the RS4 motor into the vee. Mrs would murder me without question, but the result would almost make it all worthwhile! lol

Can't wait to see this up and running :approve: 8)

Its pretty pointless throwing an rs4 lump in I reckon as big twin turbo's will cause a lot of heat. As the rs lump is so sought after the best bet is to use the s4 lump with 3 liter n/a crank and forged bottom end. Off the shelf stuff and good for silly hp figures. Add a 034 motorsport single turbo conversion which again uses many stock and off the shelf parts and badda bing badda bom.....you got an animal!

Good stuff Brett :-)

Looks like it will be a snug fit, so the engine will be longitudinal layout ... do you need to move the front bulkhead at all ? If not I presume the gearbox tail will still fit within the boundary of the bodyshell - will it be on display out back like on a dub :)
