Cambelt time need parts

Hi Guys
I’ve done a search on here for info but a lot seems to be out of date!
We’re just about to do the cam belt and water pump on my phase 1.

What are the best brand parts to use and where can I get them from (asap) any link would help.
Is there anything else worth getting now to save any unexpected hassle ?

Cam belt kit
Water pump
Aux belt

All help gratefully received

Lots on ebay, I'd go for a genuine Gates kit I think the part no. is KP15602XS-1
Looking like about £375 [smilie=icon_eek.gif] looks like prices have gone up quite a lot recently.
Maybe worth checking the Renault price ?

Watch out for old old stock, you don’t want to be putting a belt on that is older than the one you are removing!!

Good thing is it's a reasonably common kit, so stocks do move.

How do we tell how old the kit is ???

I imagine the belt, as it is new and boxed would store comfortably for some considerable time.
Whereas a fitted belt, is under tension, possibly in a set position around some tight radius and in a much harsher environment, may be less happy.

I got my cambelt kit from carparts4less for £265 (which included plugs, oil and an oil filter) and the aux belt tensioner kit from eBay for £129

I even got Renault to fit it all for another £755

I'm very suprised Renault would fit parts not supplied by them. Good effort I guess!

Most definitely.

I would also change the crank pulley whilst it’s off.

You wouldn’t happen to have a link would you or part number?
Are they available from skf?

Aye, same. The fella I deal with loves V6s so he enjoys getting it into the workshop

You may well find the identical component from Peugeot or Citroen may well be considerably cheaper ;) :approve:

I’d just like to say thanks to everyone who gave me the links and advice etc. all parts have been ordered and now have arrived.
Onto the next stage of fitting!

If you take it apart and you get chance to measure how much height is needed to get the engine down and out under the car, it would be useful...not sure if I have enough roof clearance height in my garage to get the car up and the engine down and out :)

Floor to ceiling 2.1 meters. Engine sits on hydraulic platform truck which is 28 cm high when fully down. This 'just' gives room to roll the engine out.

Update [v6plaque]441[/v6plaque]
So some good mates at my local garage Amc Automotive in Dorking Surrey took on the challenge.

So with no problems or need to drop the engine the cambelt, aux belt along with tensioners, water pump and crank pulley has been done!
Treated her to a full service why we were at it!
Can’t wait for the summer now!

Thanks again to everyone on here that offered advice and links to parts. It’s really appreciated
