Cambelt Question

Hi Guys,

Apologies if this query has gone around once already, but I have been looking into the impending cambelt replacement for me that is required ([smilie=icon_eek.gif])

I have contacted Rentech about the cost, and they quote me just £1000 all inclusive.
SG quote just over £1000 for the job.
I assume Renault charge even more.

Mike at Rentech said to me that he can fit a non-genuine cambelt kit for slightly cheaper. Does anyone know anything about this/had it done like this?

Also, has anyone had their cambelt done for cheaper?

Cheers!
Phil.

I had cambelt done by Mike last weekend, I had a non genuine one fitted ( I chose to) It's from GSF made by the same people as if you bought it from Renault themselves (I can't remember who makes it though)

I've written a detailed account of the work I had done in the dealers & specialist section on here.

I'll say one thing though, it's well worth the drive to Portsmouth for the work to be done on the car 8)

I have mine booked in at the end of april quoted 320 for the kit then £40 an hour labour should take around 8 hours im told so total cost about £650 £700 mate

Who is that booked with?

Is that including VAT, water pump and aux belt?

Cheers,
Phil.

up in the northeast mate yes it is including VAT and i need the water pump he said he can get 1 for around £60 or there abouts

I got quoted a £156 plus VAT for the kit.

The belt is a Gates which are the biggest manufacturer of automotive belts, the rollers and tensioner are standard SKF which is whats fitted as standard.

Its worth remembering that Renault and other manufacturers do not make all the the parts for there cars, and if you do enough digging you can get most parts.

Try http://www.central-auto.co.uk/

Do not pay anymore then £200 for a cambelt kit.
