5 GT Turbo c1j pushrods thread.

If I were doing a big power C1J, I would use a billet cam, not a recut, to reduce the pushrod length problems.

We need a new thread for pushrods.....
Some good points there Dave, I have some longer adjusters but not needed yet as still have the longer pushrods.
Been back to standard length this year due to reducing the pedestal height on the rocker assembly, which brings the pushrods away from head.
I thought we had solved the problem until Donington where we bent a few.

keep the wife happy.
That's the main thing, then you can play cars :)

All of my pushrods have witness marks on where they have caught the head so the hole definitely needs opening up. Still all these years and i have not actually managed to bend one yet

Your not trying hard enough :)

I am sending off one of my 178mm pushrods, (5mm longer than oe) follower and adjuster to get correct fitment for ball and cup.
The pushrods will be 8mm tube design. Once I get a confirmed price, will post on here.

Have found these, standard length but over £200 !!!!! but you get the idea.8mm push rod.webp

Ruanovo performance or something like that.

I've brought some radius gauges so I can measure the ball and cup of a standard rod.

Then I'll buy a push rod "checking" rod and see what length I need for my engine

@Clarkey where did you find the £200 ones? Do you have a link ?

Don't go rushing in Mark :)
Reinforced pushrods kit Renault 5 Gt Turbo

Been translating and basically if you send a set of rods its £218 and don't send rods £265....!!!!!!!!

I have sent the rod and adjuster so hopefully have some answers soon.

Strange how some people run the standard length rods, I never had enough adjuster until I got the longer rods.

so i measured the radius to be inbetween 3 and 3.5mm on the adjuster and push rod end and cup, tbh i think its a 1/8 radius which is a little over 3mm at 3.1750mm

from a quick googling and skim through catalogs, smallest americans go down to is a 5/32 which is 3.9688mm radius

Fingers crossed then. I was originally going 6.5mm (1mm oversize) diameter, he was happy to make something custom until I changed my mind.
Ruanova use 8mm so decided to go with that size.

We will be opening up the head for more room anyway.

Not sure about that mark, it's on both sides of the rod.

The longer rods have not helped with this cam fouling the head.
We are pulling the engine out next week so will get some pics of the witness marks on the head.

I also have the same mark on some of my pushrods too. Noticed the other day.

I'm wondering if forking out £200 odd on those ones linked above is worth it. But hoping the elongated holes on head help.

The above link for the pushrods are on an exchange basis Mark, if you don't send a set of rods closer to £300 with delivery!!!!

I have sent a rod and adjuster to Trend Performance in America.
I have had discussions and they want to do 8mm tubular, not sure if we have enough room , seeing how much we can elongate the pushrods holes.
They can turn down the 8mm but as they are tubular, it wont be much, due to making the walls too thin.
I have been quoted £17 per rod, not sure on delivery etc yet.
