Took ST Cup to Blyton Park for the 2015 TurboRenault Trackday and she was running really well until she cut out on me whilst I was getting some instruction on the circuit:
What was the problem....?
Yep... all the teeth on the camshaft that drive the Rotor arm have vanished....
Started to give the old ST Cup a bit of loving this weekend and again have another "Great Plan" like the roller rockers that will end in savage disappointment...
All home made... Really want to simplify the engine bay of ST Cup so thinking to move alternator behind engine I can have a shorter pipe run for the oil cooler and mount it on the opposite side of the grill like the Intercooler.
I will second that,,,, I have cooked 3 starter motors on trackdays, that were covered by original heat shields , I had to run some air pipe ducting to it to keep it cool enough to survive..and a starter is less sensitive to heat than an alternator....
I love the way it sits though, just needs "Looking After" heat wise.
Saxo's suffer alt fail with their alternators near the exhaust manifold albeit on the front of the block with considerably lower egt's and airflow through the front of the car. Dont reinvent the wheel
