Is anyone considering going on either of the 2 evening sessions that Renaultsport are running at Bedford Autodrome this year?

Dates are as follows:

Friday the 16th of May.

Friday the 18th of July.

Both sessions kick off around 16-00 'ish.

More details can be found here:

http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/community ... vening.asp

Think i'll be doing the May date, but if someone else was to go on the July date, I might come along to that as well :D

It has always been a very enjoyable session in the past:

Please can someone confirm the noise limit.

I believe its under 100db but I mught be wrong! :s

Cheers
Peter :D

Peter its 101db, the problem is that they, for reasons unknown, measure it at 3/4 max revs rather than the 2/3 as listed in the MSA blue book that we use for sprinting and racing. I have invested in a noise meter and measured the Spider at 100.1 at 5K so I should be ok but. If you were to make it to the Ace on Monday I can measure your car. (yeah i know you have already said you are busy) You could also say you have a lower max rev limit by applying red tape to the rev counter at a few hundred rpm less, not sure they will fall for that or not.
there is also a drive by meter there out on the track set at 80 something Db but its a good 20 meters from the track.
I have booked for this but still uncertain (as ever) which car to take!
Mark

Peter, they're not toooo strict about Db's @ Bedford, they usually let you know  where the noise meter is out on track so you back off a little as / when you go past it.

Regards, Steve.

If you're going to Beford you need to read this...

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/to ... 0&t=493028

It's the official noise statement from them as released back in February - see the comments afterwards as well because it includes input from Goldtrack, BookATrack, Sean Edwards and us.

Please be aware that this year it's one strike and you're out. Last year you got an opportunity to show a mechanical modification to exhaust or induction this year you do not. If you trip the meter it's the end of the day for you; no discussion, negotiation or refund.

Watch out for the comments re tyre squeal as well - they are strict on these things now.

We've had to pretty much give up on sending many of our cars there because it's not worth the risk. Our advice to people is take it easy in the morning and then build up to maximum throttle input during the afternoon so that if the worst does happen it's towards the end of the day and at least you've had some fun.

There's more than one noise meter around the track as well.

eastlmark - the Spider may be ok on exhaust but we've had problems with the induction noise on ours at Bedford on cold days. I can let you know a free and easy modification to do which is can then be taken off.

Tell me more....pm me if you want.

My car is not going to be ready for the May evening session @ bedford so I will look to book the July evening session.

There are a few bits and pieces I need done before hand! :(

Peter

Was Just about to book for the 18th July, but checked the T'S & C's.

Bedford Autodrome
101db(A) (static)
85db(A) (drive-by)

Static is OK, but the 85db drive by noise limit sounds VERY low.

I'm concerned! :(

Peter

I hasnt changed Peter, is has always been that low but that is the drive by at 20 mtres away, as a rule if you are well under the static then the drive by is rarely an issue and its often induction noise that trips it.
