4th June 2021 (Yesterday as I write this), I finally took delivery of my brand new Renaultsport Megane 300 Trophy:

And May I say, what a FRIKKIN PALAVA it has been for me to get to this point... it’s SERIOUSLY tested my support of the Renault Brand..!! 🤬

Let’s go back to Wed 21st October 2020... the new MK4 Facelift Megane RS had been released by Renault UK and my local dealership had a used pre-facelift car for sale that I managed to get a test drive in:

I wasn’t sure what to expect, as I was supposed to be driving the “warm” RS Megane with my GT205, surely it can’t be much different can it...?! WOW.. frikkin night and day difference!! I realised during the test drive that I had to have one!!

I went back to the dealer, and shook hands on my first ever brand new car purchase:
  • Megane 300 Trophy EDC
  • Liquid Yellow Paintwork
  • Renaultsport Monitor
  • Lightweight Fuji Wheels
  • Panoramic Sunroof
I didn’t go for the Recaro Seats, as I use this car as my daily work transport, and those cold mornings when I need to leave at 3am to get to London Heathrow for work flights, those heated seats are too welcoming to give up!!

I ordered the car expecting to take delivery on 1st March 2021, when the new reg numbers come out, and all there was to do now was wait..

Well wait I did... due to Covid, and dam near every other reason, my car didn’t actually get built until 16th March 2021 at Renaults Palencia Factory in Spain (Between Valladoid & Bilbao, Northern Spain).

When it was built, I thought it would be here soon... WRONG... AFAIK, there was some bun-fight going on between Renault UK and Renault France and UK cars were on “Commercial Block” so nothing was getting transported to UK.

It took a further 2 Months for my car to arrive at the dealer on 20th May 2021:

But would you believe it.. it arrived with a big fat chip out of the front bumper 🤬🤬🤬:

FOR F*CKS SAKE!!!
So the last couple of weeks I’ve been waiting for Renault to repair that damage.. until I could finally collect the car.

So, was it worth the wait...!?? I have to say YES so far.. I’ve only had one decent drive in it and that was straight over to my detailing guy where it sits now, waiting for a ceramic coating, and PPF film to be applied to the front of it:

Hoping to get it back for my birthday weekend which I will count as my “OFFICIAL” collection date... but I don’t mind telling you TurboRenault members the real Truth 😉😁

Thanks for reading 🏆

My Brother bought same with kit n shizzle on it last year, had to strop with dealer cos one wheel had a mark and it had a couple scratches on paintwork, he told them new means new .....not new with scratches....got a new wheel, scratches polished out and three years free servicing in the end....but he's like a dog with a bone when people try and take the piss.
I buy turds so I'm never disappointed...

It may have been two, but if they offered two he'd demand four, think they brimmed it with juice, and he'll have got a t shirt, and some spare mats, probably a feel of the salesman wife.....he never gives up, I've had to walk away before when he's had salesmen starting to tear up.....

My birthday weekend arrived, and sure enough, it was ready to collect, so off to the detailers @Millie_Bee and I rode on our bikes, to collect it:

We stopped off at Maccie D’s for a spot of breakfast en-route, and just as we stopped, I got a call from my detailing guy, asking where the key needed to be held to the dash.. as the car wasn’t picking it up…??

Sure enough, when I arrived at the detailer, the battery was as flat as a witches tit 🧙‍♀️And we needed to jump start the car to get it moving:

As you can imagine, the car looked belting after getting the full treatment, and PPF covering:

As I was wearing my cycling shoes (with cleats) I asked @Millie_Bee to drive it home:

And we went straight back to Renault for a few pictures:

During the weekend, I pulled out all of my running fleet one early Sunny Sunday morning, and took a few pictures at the local supermarket car park, just near my house. Looking forwards to getting the 11T finished so I can get the complete Big Steve collection together:

Took the car away for the weekend to get a few miles on it, and the same tonight. Desperate to reach the 600 mile barrier so I can give it a poke:

REALLY enjoyed my drive out in it this evening, and am certainly bonding well with it 💛

Great bunch of cars , get your 11 done that’s the 14 inch wheel sorted the you’ve got to find a mk1 Clio 16v for the 15 inch , and as easy as that I’ve sorted your next big project, A Williams would look great in amongst that lot ,

A Williams would look great in amongst that lot ,
Funny you should say that… it was a Williams that I’d found that I was discussing with the wife that eventually lead to me getting the Clio Raider..

I think I’ve missed the boat for getting a Clio Willy now tho as they’ve got silly priced over recent years and I’ve literally ran out of space at home and patience with the good lady.. 😬

As we all know, these Renaults rust well, right from day 1.

So with this being my first brand spangly new Renault, I wanted to see if I could help it stay a little rust-free, right from the off.

I looked at a few options, and in the end went for some Lanoguard:

D71BF947-A514-46AD-B2A6-F4F2C9CA5A0F.jpeg

It’s a natural product derived from Sheep 🐑 and safe for all plastics and rubber, as well as metal. I bought the full pack with injector nozzle for small box sections, and set out this morning to get it applied to all 4 corners of the underneath of the car.

First I got the car up on the old janky-ramps:
E00B7470-4AF2-48D1-B969-07419978EB1E.jpeg
And set about doing the underneath of the rear axle:
C32CD933-A1D7-449F-8D72-F67B76022484.jpeg
Then I jacked up each side, so I could do the more detailed parts on top:

Application is super easy, just a case of spraying it on, with the supplied trigger gun, spray pump.

Now leaving it to dry, for 24/48 hours as they recommended before I go driving the car and letting the wind blow it everywhere before it dries… Time will tell if this works I guess..!? 🤷🏼‍♂️
