Anybody had a gearbox Casing Smash?

Just recovered ads 1991 19, its covered the local town in gearbox oil.
Few chunks of Ali where it rested, locks like there is a hole in the gearbox casing.

Anyone had this before? possible causes?
Luckily we have a choice of 3 boxes to
get it back on the road. he's not getting my williams box!

Gota love renault reliabilty! lets hope all fixed soon or he'll be back to the uno!

Er no never heard of that! Where is it broken, are you sure it hasn't just had a bash?

He probably hit something in the road, not heard of this happening on a 19 before

the trail of oil traced, nothing in the road seems to be above the selector rod, will get a better look in day or two. we drive all these roads daily and although they are buggered the blackone on the deck not had anyproblems and my merc sits lower too. seems like he's done it balking a gear but can't see the selector would break the box. Confussed.com

i busted 2 casings at the diff but im on my 5th box and 12th washer and circlip might be my driving style

i busted 2 casings at the diff but im on my 5th box and 12th washer and circlip might be my driving style

if you refit even a new circlip the box never recovers anyway, it will always come out because it damages the box

its casing is bust at diff. and there is a lump of sprocket i've hooked out. must have been the other half that come out through the casing. gota love these renault diffs hey.

this is actually quite common, seen plenty with holed/cracked casings.
