This little plug somehow survived. I don't recall seeing one on the other side so that probably disintegrated many moons ago.

Its funny you should say that because I was wincing when i cut the other side open....I was smiling when i cut this side open. Rust dust should be a class A 🤣

I'm itching to get more hours on it but you know how it is. Slow and steady is better than never though.

Obviously this increases the condensation…..which has now frozen! 🤣🥶🤦🏼‍♂️

If you’re worried about welding on your car, get yourself down to your local scrapyard and buy a panel to practice on 👍🏻
Plus, you don’t have to be that good. I’m not great but I’m making progress. I’d say it’s more important that you keep yourself and your car/garage/house/street 🤣 as safe as possible.

Is the garage on a raft, or footings?
I only ask, as mine is on a raft, it's brick, but water was coming through the first coarse at the back, it's had soil backed up to it by previous neighbours ( back gardens aren't level) because it's on boundary they've used it as retaining wall and buried it.
I had to dig it out and sheet it.

I think you might be on to something there. I’ve no idea if it’s footings or a raft but I know for sure it’s below ground level, to varying degrees, on all 3 sides.
I guess the solution is to dig down and damp proof it/put a drain in. Like you though, one side is the neighbours garden I’d have to dig.
I wonder if I can tank it internally for now? 🤷🏼‍♂️.
It also needs repointing…... 🤦🏼‍♂️. When you think you’ve done enough to the house that you can finally work on your car! 🤣
 
Water always finds the path of least resistance, previous owner had bitumen painted the first couple of coarse, whether it worked for length of time, I don't know, but it just popped by the time I bought house, other issue is water washes gobbo out, long term it falls down ....find issue and waterproof it as best your able, it's a couple of feet up on longest side where it's a double skin on mine, so next issue is it's condensates, last neighbour was a prick, so blame him, new neighbours look at me like I'm gonna rape her and shoot him, very strange young couple, so even I can't bring myself to ask them to dig two ton of their garden out.....is what is.

Using the original section of the sill as a reference, I used a laser level to throw the line to the new section. The jacking point tab has stacks of material left on it to be sorted once I start offering up the outer sill.

I scratched my head for a while and then decided where I was going to strike my compromise. Ultimately, unless you have unlimited time, patience, budget, hair etc, it's always going to be a compromise. I have a tendency to deliberate, so I'm trying my best to come to that decision as quickly as possible and get cracking!

Anyone that has followed this for a while may remember that I made this plate a while back. I was clearly well organised and forward thinking. It was nothing at all to do with dropping a bollock and folding the flange the wrong way. Either way, I'm glad I have it so thank you past me.
