Bloody coils :x :x :x :x :x

This time i have to fix it myself as no warrenty!

Still cant believe Renault let the v6's out with a "bad batch" of coils fitted :x

Do a search and read I have said.

Contact Renault Customer Service and with luck replaced F.O.C.

If not go down to local Trading Standards and report.

Kown fault for a long time, not fit fot purpose springs to mind.

Can anyone do me a quick step by step guide to identifying the failed coil and then changing it,on a mk2..thanks

p.s anyone know the correct part number.

Wideboy i have a mk2 & i found the best way of identifying which coil(s) have gone is to remove the 2 engine covers and disconnect each coil one after another - if the engine note drops / sounds worse than before then this coil is fine - if the engine note doesnt change when a coil is disconnected then that coil has failed

I followed this proceedure as one of the mk1 boys did similar on his & found it to be the best way to see which coil(s) failed - doing this saved me having to pay someones labour to identify the problem & fix the coils - nice & easy to change yourself on a mk2 :D

You could buy a cheap diagnostics kit or speak nicely to your Renault Dealer.

The part is standard and most dealers keep them in stock for the Laguna.

Cheers fellas :D ,Sounds easy. how much did a coil cost you ?

I should really upgrade to Trophy coils or similar..if only i didnt have a list of things to buy as long as my arm

Cash sales invoice from my local renault dealer on 22/09/06 says £37.03 + vat (per coil) with description reading P R96 33 001 580 320603 COIL IGN for the part - hope this helps

When you fitted your new coil, and got back up and running on all six cylinders, did your dash light go out by its self or did you need to clip it at renault?

Drive the car for approx 50 miles and the light resets itself - well it did in my case :D
