21 Turbo Another 21T with a ticket.

Three power runs this morning to check things with no setting up, 254hp at the wheels 351 Trq, with transmission loss of about 40% at top end.
BUT the power delivery isn't smooth from 3500 up with big drop & peaks as if the boost is bleeding off some where.
So the to do list is going to get longer.
Some more work is needed to find out why but it seems like either actuator or BOV but could be both.

Here is a power graph from yesterday.
As you may see the Torque & HP are jumping all over the place and not smooth, this also noted on the boost gauge needle during the runs.
We have a few ideas as to what it could be but it will take more time on the rollers as driving on the road that hard is impossible.

Power graph for the idle feckers :)

Rich that seems to wobble an awful lot, whats the ECU mapped with and how are you controlling boost?

A "standard" FastChip special modified For a 2.5b map sensor.
It's the same set up which I've been running for a few years now & the same as the last time it was RR in 2013 that showed no deviation of power curve like this.
The actual boost control is done by a Turbo smart unit with 3 settings. 0.9b 1.1b & 1.45b and its seems only on the higher setting that this problem occurs so it has to be boost related.
It has to be something that has deteriorated over the years and the order likely culprits is, Actuator, BOV, contaminated MAP sensor.
If you look closely at the graph the boost pressure rises steady with a little over pressure and remains fairly constant with some deviation but the power/torque then starts to wobble.
The RR operator said that he could hear what sounded like a On boost bleed off coinciding with the variation.
I going to review the controller settings & get any bits that I may need then start testing.

I don't do farbook, but apparently its gained some interest on there?
Picked up a repair kit for the BOV and brought some diag kit from work so hopefully this afternoon I will get a chance to look

Its unusual, people were having a bit of nostalgia over it and the associated chat. Couple asked if you still owned it, few people slating ktec, the usual Facebook bollocks really lol. I'll screen grab some of the other shares later if I can find em.

Take KTEC power runs with a pinch of salt. They are typically at least 10% higher than anywhere else.

Having said that - if you dyno'd before mods and after mods it makes no difference.

Car looks great BTW !

could it not be a det issue? especially if its happening just on high boost? can the ecu sense knock as that looks very similar to an ecu pulling timing and adding it back over and over.

The runs I've had over the years have all roughly been within 10hp of each unless I had an issue like the 165hp run a few years ago.
Even if they misread, if you use the same RR to develop and test any noted gains or loss will be the same, any way show me a dyno that everyone 100% agrees are accurate all of the time.

It could be as a contaminated MAP sensor can give false data which will lead to a combination of timing, fuel mix problems.

Hi fella. I wasnt querying consistency , and my point did mention exactly what you said - one RR all the way through will help development.

Well, it seems the ECU is up the swany as it appears to be about 500mb out on the +pressure but Ok on vacuum.
Have ordered another Map sensor just incase but even with circuit board mounted type sensor I have, it still mis reads.WP_20170709_15_35_35_Pro.webp
In the picture you can see the absolute pressure on the electronic display and on the analog pressure applied with 500mb difference.
The 1000mb applied pressure is just for convenience of the picture but if I applied more it suddenly go in to default of 1100mb and that where I think the system is backing things off, hence the erratic power.
