Aluminium Brochure Folder Wanted

I've just dug out my Phase 1 and Phase 2 document folders, and it doesn't make sense that the aluminium case was used for the Phase 2.

The case holds the set of manuals for the Phase one, which are further contained in an opaque plastic wallet. There is a cut-out at the open end of the case the correct size to show the bubble Renault badge on the plastic wallet, alongside the aluminium Clio Renaultsport V6 badge riveted onto the plastic wallet.

This all fits perfectly in the case, and obviously the case was designed for the plastic wallet and books.

Looking at the Phase 2 books and documents, nothing fits properly in the aluminium case. The tracker information is contained in a small opaque plastic wallet which is much smaller than the aluminium case, and all the books are likewise too small for the case and just rattle around in there.

Either there were two different cases, or Renault over-ordered on the aluminium cases for the Phase 1 and used them up when they were found in the cupboard!

In any event, it would be very simple to get one made, but I can't see that it would add anything to the Phase 2 collection of books and documents, or even just the tracker stuff.

That is very interesting Mark. Perhaps my V6 never had one or they were just handed out in an ad hock way to Phase 1 and some Phase 2 owners.

A couple of pics of my aluminium case, with Trackstar info leaflets and car details.

What’s the plastic wallet you have for the same information, assuming it is the same info MarkK ?

Would there be any demand to get some manufactured? Would it be worth the hassle?

For what reason Jon.? Its little more than some fancy presentation. Seems to me that there's little point if one doesn't have the plastic wallet that slides within it, and all the literature that was with in that. Or do you..? Did you get the Trackstar new owners leaflet with the car when you bought it? (shown in my pic)

True enough Shaun, just thought it would be a nice addition to the car

Just had a quick look and there is no sign of the plastic wallet or literature or the Trackstar new owners leaflet in my leather owners file

Don’t get me wrong Jon, it does make a nice addition to the whole car ‘package’
but it’s nothing unless it’s complete eh.

Interestingly, I’ve just quickly compared the contents of the leather wallets of the Lunar and Black car. One difference.. a small plastic wallet containing Trackstar info, for the Black car that doesn’t have an aluminium case. The plot thickens...

As it turns out I do have the same smaller Trackstar plastic wallet which came with the car

Thinking back a few years, the IB V6 I owned then also didn't have the aluminium folder

That's exactly the plastic wallet I have for the Phase 2, so I suppose you had one or the other.

Perhaps elements of this thread may be useful for the knowledge base? It may help those wanting to pursue the complete package and those like me that are merely curious as to what folks received.

Talking about other stuff ...

Didn’t cars also come with the small blue accident management pack (camera, pen, torch, notebook) and two tire inflation cans under the seats. All adds to the authenticity which is where this thread seems to be heading.

Does anyone else also write any form of ownership letter to the next owner ? I wrote a long one and forgot to hand it over, made interesting reading when I found it ...

It would seem from the posts above that all cars didn't come with the same packs or folders. So my phase 2 is authentic as I have everything from when it was delivered to me as a new car, all tucked away ready to be passed on to any new owner. Maybe I was one of the lucky ones never to have had an aluminium folder to lose or misplace :)

Just to clarify but my car has both the plastic wallet with all the Tracker info inside the black leather manuals pack AND the metal folder sent by Renault UK to "Haut de Gamme" customers as they were called..... - ie. Clio V6 , Vel Satis and Avantime. But there is little of interest in the metal folder so you are not missing much.

My job is dispensing spectacles.
A nice designer frame is supposed to be supplied with a matching designer case. When the brand is discontinued, the cases become obsolete and it’s probable that an old stock frame will be supplied with a non-branded case.

My assumption is that a ‘whole load’ of aluminium wallets were commissioned on the launch of the Ph1 to raise Renault UK’s premium game. Some of the surplus found their way to Ph2 purchasers.

that's a weird "assumption" to make when my car was one of the last registered in November 2005 meaning the "surplus" was enough to until the end ;)

Something must explain why so many cars didn't have the aluminium folder, if they wern't dispensed correctly ( The wonderful Renault dealer network ???? ) then there must be loads left over to fulfill the shortfall.........Unless the dealers stole them !!??

Your considered opinion doesn’t account for the majority of Ph2 owners who didn’t get a silver wallet....

I reckon they were probably having a ‘clear out’ of V6 marketing flotsam & jetsam at the end. What makes you so bloody knowledgable about Renault PR and defective bonnet catches anyway?

; )
