Clio Adeys cheap DCI Daily

So the car runs really well, another car come up for sale and you write a brief advert up and slap it on book face.

A day later and a stroke of bad luck see's the intermittent warning light that used to illuminate once every 50-100 miles start popping up ever 3 miles FFS, car no longer for sale until sorted.

As more bad luck would have it the wife has picked up a cough, so that means whilst waiting for a test and the results ive now got a few days at least with no need for the car.

A quick chat with a derv specialist pretty much confirms the injector being duff, its the one that looks worse for wear anyway. So after a few google searches on how to remove them i tried the back off the injector clamp and run it trick to get it loose. Worked a charm and it came out with minimal fuss, all good on that front but its already a replacement and has no codes on it at all for me to match it up with. So i pulled number 1 injector too as it looked in good condition and i could fully read the codes on it when out. I really don't want to spend big money on this especially as i may sell it very soon so ive searched ebay for a tested and working injector to replace it with. Its half the price of a refurb and if its poo ill go back through paypal to sort it out. Hopefully all being well it will be here sharpish and i can get the neighbour with his own garage to code them all in for a few beers. It was pissing down so ive not got any in progress pictures.

I had an update stating the copper washers would be with me on the 10th..... I needed them sooner than that so spent a little time cleaning the old washers up and showing the small children the fun of reanealing copper and making it glow red. 10min later the new washers arrived 😂 any way I threw the known good injector back into number one after giving the bore and base a good clean out. Refitted with the renault supplied washer and reconnected the fuel line. With some luck the replacement injector will be here tomorrow and I can test the car out.

Injector arrived this morning looking cleaner and newer than the ones i have fitted, and more importantly the correct part numbers on there too. Fitted it all back in with relative ease. Started up and it sounded a little tappy to start with. Gave it a blast down the road and back and it feels less hesitant, smoother, at a glance less smoke and when i pulled back up quieter. Assuming the injector needed a flush through. Quick 5 mile run and no fault codes even pending so hopefully that's sorted. Next will be to get all 4 coded correctly.

I promised the car if it passed an mot id give it a service. So cracked on with that whilst stuck home. First the oil filter is in a twat position, who fits a conventional oil filter in an upside down position that you can't get too, renault. Anything you put in there to prime it empties straight back out. Anyway got it on the small ramps, took the tray off and drained it. whilst it was up I popped the bumper off to look at the intercooler. The spray of oil all over seems to have come from a loose pipe. To make sure I gave it a good clean and pressurised it best I could to check for leaks. All good so it was thrown back on. Just the fuel filter left to change but ill do that when the rain stops.

And fuel filter done. I really wanted to do this so I could inspect the old filter. I've read that some k9k engines have pumps that fail then send swarf around the fuel system. All the fuel in the filter came out clean so I broke the filter apart to check the filter media, all looks clean in there and I got nothing out with a magnet 🤷‍♂️ i will let it dry out then inspect it again at a later date.
