Adey's 986 Porsche Boxster

So i spent the weekend trying my best to give the car a decent clean in between the showers and thunderstorms. I purchased a lot of kit from ez car care, it contained a wide range of products for a decent decontamination and wash. I've done more to this car than any other I've had before and it's still not that clean. It's been deep cleaned, clay barred, had some fall out stinky shit thrown on it. Pre washed, snow foamed, re washed, soaped up, rinsed off, panel wiped and then waxed 🤷🏻‍♂️ feels super smooth but could still do with a machine polish to take out some marks. In the flesh it's loads better than it was, paint looks fresher though in the pics it's not that different. I still need to do all this shit for the interior too 🤦🏻‍♂️

You know something, I didn’t want you to get rid of the twingo. Was such a nice car but…. A friend of mine also has a boxer (3.2) and He loves it. Had plenty of decent German cars and fast Renaults and he’s had that Porsche the longest now

It would handle it like a champ for sure. Its a totally different feel to anything else I've driven quickly. So so planted even with it being old. 100+mph down a b road in this is easy compared to most hatches where you feel you are the edge. We will see what the future holds. Going to be a slow burner vs my other projects though.

Never normally give them a second look
But clocked one in a car park a few days ago , if you put clear lenses on the back you would struggle to know which way round they are , or is it just me .
Looking at v8 m3’s myself and cashing every thing else in , most of them owned by arseholes so I might as well get one

I added over 300 miles to it this past weekend, a run out through Wales with a pass through the Elan Valley then a shorter jaunt over to Cirencester. The car is very much fantastic, So easy to soak up the miles in and handles awesomely considering its age. The dash shows an average of 31.5 mpg even with a fair bit of spirited driving. There's a few little issues I need to work through, the stereo intermittently turns itself off (well it did it twice) I think the door seals have perished, which looks to be a common problem and easy to sort but I found a damp patch at the bottom of the drivers door. There's also a rattle at the front somewhere, possibly suspension related. Initially I thought I found the problem in the form of a rattling air duct for brake cooling on the front left, once I fixed this the noise then seemed to come from the right. So I will do the same there next time I get chance to jack the car up but in the mean time have also ordered a full set of arb drop links to make sure I can replace them at the same time. Other than some minor fixes I'm still very much enjoying the car and am still taking it out for a drive just for the sake of it :D

Here have a few poor quality pics of a dirty car getting used and abused.

So still loving and enjoying the Cockster. I'm still taking abuse on a daily basis for owning it too..... but all is good. Most tinkering has been little odd jobs as they arise, most of them DIY. So the rattle I noted previously from the suspension was the drivers side drop link, absolute piece of piss to do and took me longer to jack it up and down than do the job. The one loose brake air scoop is on my list of things to replace, though currently secured with a cable tie. Bigger upgraded parts are on order from Porsche. Just trying to think of what else has been done... I've removed the wiper arms and gave them rub down and lick of paint, fixed a loose radio face plate and swapped out the pollen filter whilst clearing all the drain holes. The scuttle cover fittings had failed so I fitted some rivnuts to replace them. Other than that I'm still absolutely loving driving it, its super balanced and I'm still yet to unsettle it, I think I'm just getting old though so I think a track day should be done so I can push it hard. I've got some soft top cleaner and sealer on the way so that's next on the list of jobs to do. Still getting a few quotes in for the body work too which I will probably get done in January after its MOT.
