Adey's 986 Porsche Boxster

So since having the car I've wanted a 911 bumper on there, bit of an odd one but i just like the look of it over the Boxster item. I've kept an eye on ebay and fb marketplace but generally they are £400 to £1k for a decent one. A browse on friday saw one in the correct colour and for £250, jumped on it and picked it up on Sunday. Fitting is easy, the old bumper came off easily and in about 10min (not bad for a first attempt) I then removed the rad cowling to do a little preventative maintenance/clear out of trapped debris from the rads. New bumper went on just as easily. Its in worse condition than my original but it needed paint anyway, so once I get around to having it sorted ill have the bumper i want on there. On the hunt for aero skirts next....

All being well, back on the dyno tomorrow (y)

yeah, the all being well part of that... the dyno operator let me down tbh, literally 15min before my slot. Just awaiting notification of the next availability

My butt dyno says it fly's more above 4000rpm. I had a play with a 3.2s version recently, he had more initial grunt but if i worked the box and kept it on the boil there was literally no difference in performance on the road

Porsche update time..... In short 20+bhp found since the last dyno :D

Though its a bit less clear than that. When I fitted the first round of upgrades, some of you will remember that i lost power. 196bhp down to 183bhp, initially it was thought it was the decat pipes but the K&N filter i fitted was gopping in oil and had coated the maf. I cleaned this off but never ran it up again to confirm though it definitely felt "better".

Since fitting the tubular manifolds my butt dyno has noticed a definite increase in pull above 4000rpm, along with a nicer sound track. Any way, watch the video, give me a like and sub and see the results, along with some poor footage, editing and some waffling on :D

If you want to keep it N/A.

Just chuck another motor with the same mods, under the bonnet and hook it up to the front wheels :D

Our bodies could start a band, we could call it snap, crackle and pop. @Adey could be the wind section with the built in bag pipes.

Not commenting much lately, been watching the Porsche journey from the start and you’re certainly bringing the old girl back to life.
It’s not helping with my imaginary project car searches, my boys wouldn’t know what to do if I came home in a Porsche 👍

New wheels on (y)

I was at the point of needing to replace the rear tyres but wanted to go up a size all round to fill out the arches a touch. There were a few different ones I liked the look off but narrowed it down in my head to the 993 turbo twist alloys (for that classic Porsche look) or the sport classic wheels. I wanted a retro/classic wheel on there as its a retro car essentially. I managed to find a set of 993 alloys within an hour of where I work and also managed to haggle to price including some nearly new rear tyres (which I needed anyway). They were sold to me as being the 9 inch rear version but when I got them home I realised they were actually 10j but with a very low offset. I ended up ordering some 20mm rear spacers to get them to fit and some 7mm fronts to push them out a touch too. Anyway all on and looking wide. I may change the colour to a lighter shade soon but looking good I think.

Definitely on the fence with this car , drove one a while back now , which was a ok experience but just lacking a little something , obviously the car more cable than me , I reckon it doesn’t suit the taller driver , but cracking updates as always

I've seen a few people fit 997/987 seats in these to gain a few inches of space, I've tried a friends 987 and will be looking to swap the seats in the future .

Its an odd one, the more I drive it the more I feel "at one" with it. When I originally got it I wanted to engine swap it with all the powers, but now, after driving it I fully enjoy it as it is.... its crazy nimble and changes direction with so little input, It carries so much speed through corners it shocks/scares me. Still more in it too, I'm no where near the ability of the car yet.

Adding power will ultimately make it harder to drive. That said, if it feels underpowered and can have it's throttle pressed with Gay abandon, then more power will be more fun.

The cars not had a look in since getting the Clio Mk4 RS, i dont have anywhere to store it and thus its up for sale.

Do a buy to fund hybrid turbos and other bolt on's :D
