additional to 5 year service?

Hi, been a while since I've been on and posted but just currently getting my car ready to go back on the road after being parked up for around 17 months [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

So Im organising its cambelt service. What I would like to know is there anything else beyond the standard servicing items, perhaps not so obvious I should get done while the car is in?

So far I have a full cambelt kit, water pump, fuel/cabin/air filters, spark plugs, engine oil, coolant, sump washer, new battery, discs and pads, 2 new rear tyres and a rear wheel bearing sitting beside me :)

Are there any other serviceable items I should consider before leaving it in, or even any other items I should consider replacing for peace of minds sake while the engine is exposed/being worked on?...Clutch perhaps? Car has 46k odd miles on it (relatively easy going miles mostly).

Any advice much appreciated

Were you factoring in the aux belt kit aswell?? Apart from that has your vee had the brake fluid done?

I didn't bother with the clutch cos it was only 16k or so miles, might be worth a clutch while you are in there.

the Aux belt was changed by renault mid 2007 iirc but I suppose now is the time to replace it again while the opportunity is there.

A brake fluid change is on the cards to, forgot to include that. :approve:

Debating the clutch issue...but think I will end up replacing it as if I dont it will surely only be a matter of time

Off top of head - renew gearbox oil also. Additionally worth checking condition of engine mounts too? Personally, I would do the clutch with it out. remember your 4 wheel alignment when its all done.

The Gearbox was replaced under warranty August 2008, and id say only covered 15k miles max since then, but I suppose it wont be a biggy to do it at the time.

Definitely having the alignment done especially with the rear wheel bearing being replaced. Though with nobody really specialising in the vee over here having the alignment done is a nightmare. Have had it done numerous times by different places and I cant say its ever been done to my complete satisfaction :(

Going to be an expensive month!

New suspension top mounts? Mine wear quite easily, and they're cheap and easy to replace (for Scott obviously, not me ;) )

I'll make sure they are checked out when the car is in.

Just been searching regarding clutches, are there any alternatives to Renaults? Read up on a few threads where mk2 owners have been complaining of the clutch slipping and this is definitely something I've experienced a couple of times. So thinking it may be worth upgrading if possible, but I cant find anything other than whats on ebay...and they dont fill me with a lot of confidence!
