My ABS dash warning light comes on randomly when driving aroung but never stays on for long. Car just passed an MOT luckily didnt come on during the test. any ideas? It doesnt just happen when i brake but randomly all the time.

yeah ill check later. I did hear that light flashing on was not good from someone before? As long as they arent know for suddenly failing after this symptom im happy.

lol!

What ABS system are you running, Bendix or Bosch? It'll say on the brake fluid reservior.

If it's Bendix then as your handbook says, if the ABS light AND the handbrake light come on together they you're up a certain creek without a paddle (or brakes lol)

If it's the later Bosch system I'd be less concerned.

check the fluid level for starters. (don't jump to the dramatic conclusion that it's fucked just because the light came on a little.)

also check the connection on the top of the reservior, if this is dirty or not properly fitted then it would cause your problem too.

Light is now out on my dash, no more handbrake light nor ABS light appearing :) only had to replace the bendix unit twice to get it right lol, 2nd one had a faulty high pressure valve

OMG you chose to put bendix in your car  lol

Its my daily driver, needed back on road asap, plus im still trying to map my 5 on the road, running a lot better now but still a long way to go with it. I just dont have time to anything at the moment. Next month it will be get convertible on road, get my 5 capable of driving to the nurbergring on the 7th october and have some fun. then later on tidy my 19 chamade up whilst i put a few miles on the convertible. Well thats my plan anyway

Brakes bleed fine 2nd time round after installing but it just kept on trying to build up pressure, now it builds up pressure when you turn the key, light goes out, and happy days from then on :)

the mind boggles on how they got away with unleashing that bendix abs system on the world.

In response to a lawsuit alleging large numbers of failures of their Anti-Lock Brake Systems, Renault announced today that they would continue to "stand behind" their anti-lock brakes.
Speculation: They might be less willing to stand in front of them.

"There is no issue with the Bendix ABS system, it is both reliable and safe."
